I totaled an '05 K1200LT last Dec while insured with Geico. They paid off in full within 3 weeks. I was very impressed with Geico's service but not with the sheriff's Lt who investigated the accident. He listed my actions as promimate cause of the accident on the report (claimed passing two vehicles was illegal in Texas, couldn't/wouldn't quote the statute.) And the Gieco adjuster took his word for it. BTW, no citations were issued.
Fastforward to insurance renewal time. You guessed it, rates went UP by about 75%. I have my '04 FJR and '98 KLR on the same policy, have multiple discounts. But with the accident surcharge, I'm lookiing at over $2,000 a year for the three bikes (you east coast guys will probably say "that's all?")
So I checked out Progressive (have had them in the past) and found some interesting stuff. Yes, I could get coverage for less money. Also less coverage (20/40/15 vs 50/100/25 for example). But the real kicker was the cost for collison for the Beemer and the FJR: Geico wants $466 for the Beemer and $350 for the FJR while Progressive wants $196 for the Beemer and $596 for the FJR. What's wrong with this picture??? I'm sticking with Geico.
