Well called progressive to switch my insurance from the ST1300 over to the FJR..........that didn't go so well.

I was paying $340 a year for the ST1300 and now they want $690 for the FJR. Guess I'm going to have to go insurance shopping.

Well that makes no sense... :angry2:

Try State Farm as they have been fair with me. $305/year with multi policies.

Wow!! 60 seconds and its still here. Someone must be out for a ride. :p I am paying a little less with geico and 2500 worth of farkles.

Well I guess I put this in the wrong place but where was it moved to?? I looked and can't find it but than again I often can't find what I'm looking for :)

Progressive Multi-policy

$500 Deductable has been reduced to $380

Full coverage is $287 a year.

Sounds like they are calling your ST a sport touring or touring bike, and the FJR a high performance sport bike.

I have GEICO, and the FJR is $329, 100/300, full coverage, etc. -- classified as a sport touring bike. My XX is the one they bend me over on (kinda like your new numbers, and they call IT a high performance sport bike).

They are definitely considering it a sportbike or as my agent referred to my new ride a "superbike."

R1200S quoted $4109/year for full coverage. I am going to take my chances with liability only.

I've done it before.

My advice would be to get quotes from every insurance co you can think of. If they have online and phone quotes available, do both. When I checked around last February before taking posession of my baby, I got rate quotes from $675 (Progressive-Drive) to $1700 (progressive-online) to $1950 (progressive-phone) all on the same day. Markel had the audacity to quote around $4700/yr for nearly identical coverage, needless to say I laughed hystericlly at the lady and hung up. Geico was better at $2700, but still laughable. State farm would have been competative if I had switched the other vehicles and house policies, but I didn't want to deal with all that.

I was 30 yrs old, no traffic voilations, CDL holder with company required defensive driving yearly, married, homeowner, with 1 M/C accident filed on insurance nearly 4 yrs prior. Needless to say these quotes shocked me after the $176/yr I was paying for identical coverage on a 2002 Honda Magna.

Call around and get quotes, and if you don't like what you hear. . .call back tomorow with the same info. I have recieved vastly different quotes when I called back and asked for a quote and talked to a second person at the same company without giving them the quote number from the day before.

Are you sure they didn't mistake the fjr for a sport bike? I pay $408 a year with State Farm. They first quoted me a much higher price until I questioned it. Then she said well it is a crotch rocket isn't it? Does it have a turbo?

I didn't shop around much, just went with my regular car insurance agent, who's been dependable for many years, and he recommended Progressive. So that's what I have, at $388 for full coverage, uninsured motorist, $250 deductible for comp and collision and roadside assistance. So last weekend I smacked a big rock that came down off the roadside cliff and put a major whang in my front wheel. Tow service hauled me 147 miles to my usual dealer (they had a 150 mile limit). No problems anywhere in the process. Adjustor called yesterday and said he was finding me zero percent at fault. Pretty pain-free, and more important than the bottom dollar sign, IMO.
