Have you ever seen two automobile drivers wave to each other because they were driving? For me, waving to a fellow rider is nearly a daily occurrence.

I wanted to explore that just a wee bit. Here in Las Cruces, we are blessed with lots and lots of bikes on the road daily. However, I'm a bit tired of waving. There are, at times, just too many bikes to wave at. No, that's not it. Actually, I have a bit of a phobia about taking one hand off the handlebars when I'm underway. So, since I got my '08, I've been waving much less and nodding my head a lot more. A simple head nod.

Thanks for the link to the article. It's nice to see positive publicity about bikes. Also, I love the camaraderie in motorcycling. Instantly you know that you have a connection with another person through the common bond of cycling and I am glad it was mentioned in the article.

Great article, however I do believe that it will fall on deaf ears or blind eyes to those who just don't have the same passion as us. You either got it, or you don't. I don't get hunting. I accept that people like to hunt and have no problem with it, but I could never enjoy it.

Most of the people who read this article will be bikers themselves, so it will be a "preaching to the choir" thing. Still good and reinforces what we all know and feel. There's just something about riding............................

When I was first out on the road the old guys all talked about the idea that when they started waving it was because they actually knew all the guys in the locality who were riding bikes. I guess it just spread, sort of like the ol' fella on the porch who used to wave at his neighbors as they passed, but now waves to everyone coming and going from the subdivision on his neighbor's old farm.

We live on a very popular motorcycle road. A lot of times I'll get waves from folks on bikes while I'm riding the mower.
