Seem to be having some issues with intermittant vibration felt in the testes (lower front seat) and feet. Vibration generally occurs @ about 4000rpm or 80mph. Seems to vary in intensity and at times there is no vibration at all. What is the likely culprit?

Sorry gang - should have noted it is a standard 08 with 2700 miles

The cheap fix is to wear a cup.

Really, what year and model do you have and what kind of tires do you have w/mileage? This would help.

The scoot was designed for women.....get an audi....you'll be just fine...and you'll have a/c.

next things to ask are:

what have you done to it

have you preformed any type of service yet?

for starters :tiredsmiley:

Some things to check:

1-See if your tires are balanced. I got a similar vibration and found the front tire to be 1 oz of balance. (cured)

2- May see if you need a Throttle Body Syncronization(TBS), this too can cause these vibrations.

Hope this helps and let us know what solves the problem.

+1

The intermittent aspect makes me wonder more about tbs.

Seem to be having some issues with intermittant vibration

change the batteries, think energizer

how Odot'esk is that,,,,

Edit:......or you have a bad vibrator

Uber Odot'esk is that,,,,

The bike is stock, was in for 600 mile check-up; original tires in good shape
Unfortunately, even though the tires are stock and good shape Does Not rule out an Imbalanced tire(s), Out of Round tire(s), or even Separated Tread(s).

Some shops do not properly balance tires and when they do, many Only balance to 60 MPH... Something to consider.

True dat.. had a fellow feej dude come over and we reskinned his rims.... he had a virbration at 120 or so..... i balance until it cannot get closer in .25oz increments.... His vibs left.... he got home and told me... he said "Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiccee", we read every single torque value and rechaecked every single thing.... three times....... a 30 minute evolution turned into a nice afternoon

it is why I work on my own bike when i can.... NO ONE cares as much as I do that my bike will do its duty as it should.... saves money too

In addition to the other possible culprits mentioned, does the road surface change when the vibration shows up? There is a section of road on my daily commute that has a rough surface which causes a vibration in my bike that feels like engine vibration. As soon as I pass through this area the vibration stops.

The bike will smooth out nicely after the engine gets broken in at around 10,000 miles too.

My 07 with 7000 has a buzz around 4K. Oldbeemerguy (sp) commented to me that his was buzzy around there as well. I did not really notice it until he said something. I have not done a TBS yet, so I do not know if that would help. Old's had only 500 or so miles, so I would surmise that it is just the feel of this bike or something that would go away after breaking/settling in.

Not a critisim at all, but sometimes I think that the feel and sounds of a motorcycle are mistaken as problems. Sitting on an engine so close to you with no hood, insulation, mounts to isolate the engine from the frame and such is supposed to be an all inclusive experience. Thus I never questioned what you are describing as I chalked it up to the character of this particular motorcycle. Like I said, just my thoughts not a judgement.

Heck, this engine is butter compared to my former K100RS. I will be keeping an eye on this thread just in case something comes of it. Take care.

Yammerhammer,

I think all the FJR's vibrate at 4000 rpms, which is usually at 80 mph in 5th. All the bike review articles I have read on the FJR say the same thing that there is a fine vibration to the whole bike around 80 mph. Mine does the same thing. I think it's just part of the vibration the engine gets at that speed/rpm.
