As I continue to waffle on the Bite the Weenie ride in L.A. this weekend, one alternate option is to go to the bike show in San Mateo, running from Friday through Sunday. I would go Saturday. Who else is planning to go from the Bay Area and Northern Bay Area (Sackatomatoes)?

One scenario: breakfast in, say, Hayward or farther north, then toodle on over for a few hours.

I was thinking about it....BUT...I didn't realize it was this weekend. Doh!

I'm not going to make it...too much to do this Saturday.

Hycles, Rogdebs, exskibums, et al, are headed for Roseville Yamaha. If I can get my errands done by late morning I may try to ride up there but even that doesn't look promising.

JB,

I'm going Friday night, full weekend, but I haven't missed this show for 5 years running, don't want to spoil my record.

Just made plans with Flying Junior to do Roseville on Saturday, then San Mateo on Sunday, and miss the rain on Friday completely. Hans, you should come up here Saturday too. I'm sure there's a booth bunny with your name on her. Somewhere.

Wow.The bike show in San Mateo.

Bite the Dr. Rich Weenie.

Roseville Yamaha's Open House and Swap Meet and Merchandise Free-for-All.

Gonna stay local.
Hans... Can't make San Mateo... The Mrs and I are off on an adventure!

Michael... If your going to Roseville Yamaha on Saturday, could you have someone take some shots of you with the girls so I can Photoshop them for future threads. It has been awhile since I had any new shots to work with! Thanks... Your Only Friend!

Here's my pics from last night at the show. Attendance appeared to be down from years past, but so was the vendors attendance. One whole Pavillion was closed vs. last year and the vintage bike collection seemed to be about half of last year's show. HD was there for a change, but we didn't spend any time looking there. Yamaha only had one silver FJR and no black one to lust over  Unfortunately my camera's flash gave up the ghost so the images aren't the sharpest. Link at the end is yours truly on Matt Mladin's bike (he loaned it to me for the day!).

New Honda cruiser Stateline

Close up of Stateline passenger peg which looks to me like the peg they used on my 1970 Honda Trail 90, musta had a whole truckload to use up. I'm not a cruiser kind of guy, but that looks ridiculous IMHO

Just got back from the show. I was there today from 10 to 2. I didn't take any pics. Here are my Tweets on the subject:

  • Beautiful freakin' day in NoCal. Cool but blue skies as far as you could see.
  • Not a lot of motorcyclists on the road to the show, but plenty parked when you got there. Free parking for bikes. It was just as fun looking at the bikes in the lot as in the showrooms. Lots of FJRs in the parking lot.
  • I connected with Silent and his buddy Pat there.
  • Ran into Uberkul, Uberbrother, and Uberdaughter in the Honda area.
  • I only sat on three bikes. Only one elicited a spontaneous "Oh yeah baby!" when I sat on it because it felt so great. What were the three bikes and which one made me squeal? (Answers at bottom.)
  • Part 2 of quiz: Which bike at the whole venue had the most people standing around it oo'ing and ah'ing?
  • I talked to Lee Parks and told him how much I enjoyed his class (taken this year at that same venue). Would like to take his part II class.
  • Met a guy named Goose-something on this forum who's considering an FJR. Lives in Dos Osos and has heard of Creston.
  • Said hi to Kim from California Sport Touring, who was working the Givi area. Kim rides an FJR, his second (I bought my '05 from him).
  • Bought a model FJR (photo). Thanks, Silent, for lending me $15 ok $20 :glare: to buy it (I left my wallet at work yesterday). Um, Ray, today's my birthday--sure you don't wanna make it a present? Too bad it's a stinkin' slow-*** ugly-blue '06 with panty-waist stripes. The only other choice was silver.

Quiz answers: Part 1. Three bikes were FJR, Connie 14 (that Connie in FJR-05 blue sure is purddy), and BMW K1300GT. Squealer: BMW K1300GT.

Part 2: Bike that attracted the biggest crowd: The new BMW racing bike, S1000RR.
