I have an iPhone 4S, and my preferred storage place on the bike is in the glovebox. I have an iStubz cable to keep it charged up while riding. With the iPhone 5 being a bit taller, will it still fit? I'm guessing probably not...at least not with it plugged in at the same time.

Anyone have an iPhone 5 and know for sure? Or can try it out?

Might be a bit vibraty in that area, dude....sure you want to put it there?

Dimension differences are listed here.

Your link didn't work for me, but I'd note the iPhone 5 lightning cable is going to be completely different than an iPhone 4 cable that won't work. Or differences in case selection.

That said, I'd say that all things being equal--you decide if an extra 8.6 mm (thickness of about 6 dimes) is a deal breaker or not.

Concur on the vibration concern. I've ordered the new RAM mount myself.

I have my doubts that a 5 would fit in there plugged in. My 4S reaches the top of the box when plugged in and placed upright at an angle.

It is hot in there, but I've stuffed my phone in there for nearly 3 years with no problems. Vibration is no biggie as the phone's got no moving parts. That said, with my new tank bag having some waterproof outlets, I'm going to start powering it and keep the phone in there (using WnS coax w/splitter from tank/seat area and that WnS USB charger).

I got a Droid Razr which fits fine and is taller than the i-5...

Razr Max is: 5.15 x 2.71 x 0.35

iPhone 5 is: 4.87 x 2.31 x 0.30

I put my iphone 5 in the glove box and it fits. To plug in the charger you will have to move it around a bit. I moved it to go corner to corner and it gave me enough room to fit the plug in the end.

Thanks guys

I know the iPhone 5 has a different connector, and I'm not too worried about vibrations...no moving parts. Plus, I've been putting my phones in there ever since I had the bike. No issues with vibrations or heat.

Sounds like it will fit, although to power it, it might require certain contortions to fit "just right"...now I just need to figure out the best way to get the phone itself! :p

Worst case, it could be an excuse to get a powered tank bag

Get a smuggler. Powered tank bags are so passé.

I have a ram mount and have a lifeproof case for my iPhone 5. With that case it will withstand any amount of weather or torture a motorcycle can throw at it short of it just falling off and getting run over.

hey all...here is a thought pertaining to putting the phone on the bike or in the glove box....in the case of an emergency or accident and if you are really hurt, most of the time you are not lying near your bike. If you are hurt extremely bad you might not have the ability to get to the bike. I would keep the phone on you incase something happens so it is where ever you may end up...not where the bike ends up...just food for thought.

I used to think that too...until this happened to me...
