interesting bit of conflict between the story and the way Kneebone discusses the first IBR on the recent 2007 DVD. in the first rally there were no "bonus locations" like today. it was considered a big enough challenge to simply finish. so having basic paper maps to get to the checkpoints wasn't as big a handicap as is implied.
