The FJR has a lower acquisition cost compared to the BWM's and Goldwing. If you do you own maintenance, it is easier to get at the parts. More extensive disassembly is pretty easy to. This does translate into lower "tech" time for taking it into the shop. I don't think any bike has all the farkles, adding stuff to the FRJ is easy simple and there is plenty of room under the seat for the boxes, no conflicts with native Yamaha wiring, no CAN bus.
I have added a Dashcam front and rear, blind spot and rear collision detection warning, quick shifter, rear bag lights, Front aux lights, TPMS, GPS, Heated gloves, or rider cooling (same controller) and Deer whistles (don't knock it). These were not added all at once, but it's easy to add. I'm thinking about an InfraRed system to see warm bodies in the dark.
I like my personal rocket ship.
