bikes? No

yammie's? .....I was told that the base of the Yamaha Apex RTX snow machine (as well as like models) uses the same base as the FJR ...but, I personally don't know how factual that is, and there are some obvious (and likely more non-obvious) differences when you compare CC's HP, etc etc ....but me does thinks there is some cross pollination.

I was told "the yamaha inline-four used in the snowmobiles is solid bullet proof engine with descent performance and comes from the FJR." I'm sure others on here are more qualified to say how true or not this is.

I rode one, it was nice but heavy. Got killed by a 2-stroke with same HP, but much less weight.

...and no, my wife is not the governor of Alaska. ....but if I had it to do again .... LOL

https://cc.msnscache.com/cache.aspx?q=yamah...308052,9d7ceb84 As usual, RenoJohn knows of what he speaks. The Genesis 120 engine is our beloved FJR engine and it powers the snowmobiles available from Yamaha. It is a three cylinder machine, but it is using many of the same components as our FJR's. Base has been modified to utilize a crank with three connecting rod throws.

Not another bike, but I'm thinking that it's the engine used in the Lights! Motors! Action! stunt cars at Disney. They don't mention Yamaha in the show, but they describe them to the audience as 1300cc 4-cylinder motorcycle engines, which narrows it down pretty much. The web site describes them as 150hp, which would be light for a 'busa, right?

As much trouble as FJR owners needing engines have had getting a whole engine (Yamaha will only repair them, not replace them, even if it's evey single part that needs replacement, they apparently won't sell a whole engine) I wonder where Disney got the engines. . . .

Well, with Disney's budget, they probably got them the same way you got yours. Wander on down to the dealer and buy them. Of course, they probably discarded all the "packaging", such as faring, frame, wheels, etc...

(Well, it IS friday...)

Agree, also when I saw the show the announcer said Japennese M/C engine & just as I was thinking FJR Somewhere I later thought I heard Yamaha mentioned.

I looked in mine ('07), and it was a little different. Probably accounts for the admittedly small difference in speed, mine being a little faster the the run of the mill FJR.

Interesting! Thanks for your post. I had been under the impression the Yam four stroke sled engines were based

on the R1 four cylinder engine...

Hi JC, I took my 11-year old son Seth to Brian Head Resort, Utah last winter to play in the snow. We rented a Yamaha sled for a day and went exploring. At a lunch break I lifted the engine cover and checked out the motor. Looked really familiar!!
