Hey, I am sure we have at least one more geek or wanna be like me in here. I need 411 on the informatica.

I have a developer that uses informatica and claims that he can not utilize property files or anything of that kind to pass schema and db name. Please let me know if that is true or not. And if yes how is it done. If not, why not.

Thank you very much.

I wold think Bounce, Ignacio, Warchild or Slapnpop (or any of the other programmers and IT guys) will have an answer once they see the post.

Come to think of it, probably any of the admins here might have the information.

Sorry, lots & lots of experience (since '81) but absolutely nothing, not even a whiff of an idea, about informatica. Never heard of it, can't remember seeing it. Think I'll go Google it to see what the all-knowing knows...

(edit) It might be a data warehouse type of repository. Hmmmm www.selectorweb.com, which is probably Informatica central, refuses my attempts to connect... (/edit)

(edit2)

Here's some more info via a user's website:

Why are you using informatica. If you let me know what you're trying to do I can direct a info request to the right people.

EDIT: I checked...nobody I work with has direct experience with informatica.

That said, they all believe that there must be a way to accomplish what you are trying to do, perhaps not necessarily by sticking that info in some existing field?

I'd be interested in what capacity you are using Informatica as a tool. I assume you are performing some kind of integration. I have a fair bit of experience in that field.

Thanks for reply. I am not using it. I am LUW DBA. It is my developer group that is using it and they wont really give me more info besides they need to have the same schema name in Test/ QAT/ Prod because they can't figure out or simply lazy and stupid, I would go with the later one, to use property files. It took me 8 month to convince them to use property files for their JAVA development. They are under impression that it si simpler to hard code.

Right now they want me to rebuild 2 databases to accommodate their incompetence.

Bloody hell what's all this about?
Integration. Yet more "diversity" BS. Thought that kinda talk was outlawed here, I do believe it's time to unsheath the ban stick.... :p
Dam thought it had something to do with erotica.
I wish it was.

Thank you. I was trying to get their manuals, but they have them all locked up. What is up with that???

Considering that I have no idea what kind of license we have with informatica I might not be able to register with them to get to manuals.

(Only Informatica customers and partners have access to my.informatica.com)

This is now turning into a pissing contest. I am getting calls from directors and VP's them selfs.

I really need solid proof that it is possible. Other wise I would have to submit and rebuild the databases. Will see if that phone number will help.

p.s. I was just told that it will be a tool company is going to be using going forward moving data from MF to our warehouse.
