I was getting ready to shell out the cash for the Cardo G9 Bluetooth comm system as that is what I use in while doing demo rides. It works well, even if it is pricey. However, I found out that the G9 interferes with my older Garmin StreetPilot 2820. Whenever it is close, the GPS will not find satellites. I walk away and the GPS finds the location, and when I walk back, it no longer can find satellites. Bummer. I do know that the Cardo G9 works fine with the newer Zumo 665 units. This has nothing to do with any of the GPS settings as I have the Bluetooth function of the GPS off, and the G9 doesn't even have to be in use, just 'on' for the problem to occur.

I like my older Garmin GPS units and have no plans to upgrade anytime soon.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? How about with any of the other Bluetooth comm systems like the Sena? Anybody have a 2730/2820 with the Sena that works, or has the same issue I have?

Weird.

I suspiciously could never get my 2820 to Bluetooth with either my Sena or iPhone. I chalked it up to the Bluetooth standard...not being quite so standard. I'd choose Bluetooth on the 2820 and it just spaces out...until I eventually turn it off and back on never to communicate with anything.

I resorted to sending the audio to a Sena SR-10, mixing with V1, and then sharing with my headphone unit.

But your GPS still works? My issue is that the Cardo G9 causes the GPS to be unable to find satellites, so the GPS itself is now completely useless for navigation. It just sits there blinking at me 'Unable to obtain location' or whatever the nasty ***** says.

Very true. And I have a 478 that works too...so the grass is REALLY green here in Sena land.

I do have a Mix-It and/or a Starcom that won't interfere I'll sell 'ya.....real cheap. ;)

Unfortunately I think you will find that the shielding in your 2820 is not up to snuff but it would be interesting to know if other bluetooth devices cause issues such as an iPhone or a Sena unit. It may be that the Cardo unit has some bad RF leakage that is causing the issue that other brands may not have,

There has been a number of upgrades to bluetooth since the older Garmins but I don't believe the firmware in a 2820 is upgradable.

Scooter, I have an old SP2610 sitting on the shelf in the garage so can try to plug it in and see if it experiences the same problem with my Sena SMH10R as your SP2820. Not sure if I'll have time to do it for about a week or so as I'm heading out on a trip late on Fri night, but will certainly give it a shot and report back once I've tried it.

I've got a 2820 and a Sena SMH10. Works fine except I occasionally have to re-pair the GPS with the Sena. It connects, then immediately disco's. No rhyme or reason to it. Very intermittent. Otherwise, very happy with the combo.

(queue the Captain U-Turn jokes).

I have the Cardo Q2, obviously not the same thing but not sure how different the Bluetooth could be, which I use with a 2820, no issues. My Thunderbolt phone is also paired to the 2820.

Can you find another G9 to check? I'm inclined to think something's wrong with it, as in the aforementioned RF leakage.

you could give garmin and or scala a call and see what they have to say about it? Seems like BT connections can be a bit glitchy no matter which brand you choose. Ive just learned to deal with it.

Skooter - I have a 2730 with a Sony blue tooth dongle attached to the sound out which pairs with my Sena unit. No real problems with the GPS not finding satellites.

Is there a way to turn off the long range intercom on the G9? BT and GPS frequencies are not that close but may be getting some spurious interference?
