That thing originally looked like something out of Mad Max but when you were done with it looked dam nice.

I just recently sold a 85 BMW K100RS. It was a fun bike but no FJR. Now I only have one more vehicle to resurrect in the garage. A 1968 Firebird 400 convertible. OK, OK...I know it's not a bike, but it needs some TLC too.

Man do something about your weeds will ya!

Letting he side down Slapnpop!

Cheers
Yardwork is for those who give a **** what others think.
Great attitude Slap. Unfortunately for some, we live in areas that if we don't keep our lawns kept it will actually affect resale value as it is a big first time impression. For me we do up the front and in the rear my wife has her meadow, vegetables, peppers etc so people don't have crap to complain about. We do have a freaking thieving homeowners association :evil2:

Yep, my bad '84 it is. Honda I D book says they made them only in '83 & '84 & I suspect they made some "late '84s also and called them "85s". '85 had no mechanical tach cable but had electronic tach. When I got it both tach & speedo needles would swing wildly. Disconnected both cables & hooked up clear hose to each bent in a "U" & filled up hose, with light oil, to a level to just bring up the oil into the bottom of each which oiled each input bushing. The stinking thing was a real runner. I eventually was going to check the drive shaft, spark plugs (2 per cyl), & valves (3 per cylinder) but it ran so darned good, I didn't. Come to think of it I probably should check this stuff on my "84 CB700SC Nighthawk S, but I've only had it 3 years & it really runs good...Later,,, De

You do your wifes meadow in the rear.

Any way the call on the dead cylinder was correct - very low compression. The piston is moving, but not building much pressure at all. Where to start rings? valves?

Do a wet & dry test....dry one 1st.....that will point the way...

Holy canoli Travis,

You finally have it running! Does this mean that we may need to move over... Maureen is going to be screaming past us?

About them weeds... where were they when I was driving down that gravel driveway???

Under Maureen's car!

She's not going to be riding that bike anymore for now, other than some parking lot practice. One of my co-workers is going to be getting the bike, and he's already had a couple "training sessions." Maureen wants a little dual-sport that she can take on trails and not worry about traffic.

I was just kidding about the "Maureen" part. She already told me that she didn't much care for the bike. I also caught the part about the co-worker. Good luck to that person & please welcome them (from me) to the sport.

Also, isn't dual-sport & little not to be spoken in the same sentence?
