It's On The Truck

I just don't understand Yamaha's marketing plan for the FJR in the US.....There are buyers for the product but there is no product to see/test ride or buy (for the most part). You would think that they would floor some models at the larger dealerships....probally boost sales a ton. How many buyers have the lusting to get a bike....Go see that the FJR is not in stock and buy a ST1300 down the road?

On the truck from Japan. No wonder it is taking so long. Are they taking the bridge or the tunnel?

Sorry to hear that they got your hopes up and didn't really give you the straight scoop initially. I was unhappy when my June delivery didn't happen, but at least my dealer didn't tell me it was on the truck until it was actually on a truck, in the USA, travelling in the right direction.

We know for sure the Yamaha container was loaded on the ship....

(Sorry, bros, I couldn't resist... :erm: )

Just my luck. <_< My bike is on that ship, That ship will sink, My bike will wash up on Gilligan's Island.

Cheers.

Marc

IT IS HERE! :D I think it was on the ship pictured above because the shipping crate was trashed. :dribble: BUT other than a few fairing scratches and a dent in the left muffler it is OK. Yamaha will replace those parts but I am going to pick it up and ride it anyway. I am not sure if the bags have come in yet also ???? :(

Oh well, Tomorrow will be set aside for paperwork signing, Picking up the bike, 50 miles on the way home, An oil change, a good coat of Tech-Wax, Insurance, and some farkeling. The rest of the weekend is for riding. :D

So PDP date was May 4 2005 and a promised delivery in June. Actual arrival is July 21 2005. It has the Metzler MEZ4 tires. (YEA!) Oops I don't want to start a tire thread.

I gotta go down to the garage now and sit on the Ducati and make Yamaha noises.

Ride Safe.

I had to wait from February 9th to August 5th for my first FJR.

I sold and delivered it to Twisties this past Memorial Day and had my new 2005 delivered to my driveway (Yeah!) on that Friday...June 3rd. In fact, it was a surprise since I was not expecting it for at least a week or so. Got a call at 9:15am Friday morning (still in bed since I took the day off) and was told the truck left the night before and would be there that morning. 11:00am that morning the truck showed up in front of the house. ...Gotta love it. :D ;)

Got about 3500 miles on the new FJR since June 3rd with a ride to Arkansas and another to the CFO.

Compared to the Duke it sounds like a blender  but it's a helluva bike.

Congratulations, bro. You must be sitting on your Feejer by now and making Ducati noises :haha:

I tried the ST1300: it sounds like a sewing machine, looks like a scaled down Goldwing and I don't like the burgandy color they're offering us this year... I want a Galaxy blue FJR, as my 12 year old grand-niece would say: "Dude, I want it all and I want it now!"

I've had mine for 59 days and have 4885 miles.  :p
Don't any of you guys have a real job? You're spending way too much time with the FJR!
That's only ~83 miles a day. Back before I worked out of my house, I called that "commuting". My Laguna Seca trip this year was only 2200 miles in 12 days- spent more time looking at the scenery than riding, I'm afraid.

Go home, get aquainted with the wife/kiddies,
The spouse-unit learned how to ride this spring- she went to the races with me.

mow the grass...
That's what the child-unit is for. :D

get some quality time with your neighbors...  ;)
They're never home, either- always running around in mini-vans, schlepping the kids from one activity to another. At least when I haul the child-unit around, I get to do it on the FJR.
