IIRC, you have access to a machine shop. Soooo, just how difficult is it going to be to modify a "Blackbird" or 'Busa engine to the Yamaha shaft drive?

Yee-fricken'-haw! Just don't let Warchild near the thing.......

The bike is out of the shop and back in the garage. before I post up with the current state of the bike, I have to comment on the fantastic service I recieved from Yamaha of Cucamongo in SoCal. All you guys/gals near to them, make a note of their address. These guys are a first class 5 star Yamaha only dealership on Route 66. No kids working in service, only mechanics with many years of experience. TurboDave can chime in on their experience, as he is the one who pointed me in their direction. :good:

Now to comment on the other end of the service scale. These guy's are lower than bottom feeders and I will never be setting foot in their dealership, as long as oxygen moves in my lungs. Also make a note of them, they are called Goldrush Honda Yamaha of Sonora, CA. Here is a list of what these :******: 's call service and how my bike was returned to me from my prior tick fix, which took them no sooner than 7 weeks (which only occured when I raised **** with them). At which time they also asked for money to get it back sooner. No its called warranty work you fuckers and its free, got it!!!

3 valves were near maximum clearance

Valve cover gasket reused, laden with goop

#4 spark plug high tension lead was not connected to spark plug properly producing an audible high voltage arc and intermitent ignition failure.

Thermostat housing thread stripped out with no bolt present. Housing was just sitting loose, rattling around

TBS waaaay out

Exhaust header bolts were over torqued which resulted in all brackets being bent

GHY has not filled the neccessary paperwork for the original tick fix, so there is no previous record at Yamaha of any mechanical problems against my V.I.N.#

BTW this was all found by the mechanic and shop owner who had to undo and rework all of this previous horseshit repair.

To answer the question of whether my bike has the tick or not, I cannot say. The reason being is that Yamaha did not authorize the guides to be removed from the head to have the ID's checked for size. The bike has been determined not to be a ticker by a check which involves removing the header and looking inside for any oil passing the valve/guide/seal.

Yamaha of Cucamongo also ordered and used half size incremental shims to set all valve clearances dead nuts. Leak down test resulted in less than 5% on all cylinders. Complete EGA check on all cylinders individually and verified. Result HC PPM <2000

I must also say a big thank you to our feerless leader who has been aware of the valve guide checking procedure and offered to take up the fight with me against Yamaha. Remember folks, he does more for this community than you know and I am greatful he is on my side.

At least now all of this data is on record and I have written copies in my hand (you taking notes GHY) so if there is a next time, I now armed with hard proof and not notes taken by Cypress customer service.

Thanks again TurboDave for the loan of your ST1100, you da man!!

Riding north at 4.00am out of SoCal on the new and improved FJR was likened to a LearJet. :super1:

I have not listened for any ticking since I installed my Autocom Pro7, ignorance is bliss, for now anyway. :D

I think it would be very benificial for all owners if there is a map available to know where good service is available for our FJR's, it can save a lot of potential headaches.

That is a pretty amazing story. What a hack job! Its hard to believe that a dealership could make that many mistakes on the outside of the engine and not also screw up the valve guide replacement but it sounds like you have a good running engine -- at least for a while. Good Luck! I hope this is the end of your nightmare but something tells me we will be hearing about it later.

At least they have not been paid, according to Yamaha. IMO Yamaha should be charging this bunch of hillbillies, they couldn't fit ******** to teady bears.

I would expect a company with the size/reputation of Yamaha should be doing better than this with it's dealers.

Glad to see you are rolling again - hope to ride with you soon. :)
I did hear a little birdy mention that a contingent is heading my way this weekend? So maybe sooner than you think!

I also got my new ABS front wheel sensor installed today, so hopefully this will be the end of my gremlins for a while. Thanks again to Yamaha of Cucamongo for coming through for me.
