I am shopping for a new 3 season jacket. I have summer covered.. An early death to my other jacket is a result of brake fluid that dripped from a container down onto to the jacket.

Anyway I have my eyes on the Rev'It Horizon HV wondering if anyone here has any experience with the jacket?

My next purchase, New Winter Gear.

I can say I love mt Rev It Tornado set, very nice stuff.,

Here is what I am thinking of:

Jacket

Pants

I am impressed by Rev It Gear. The best I have owned. And adding SAS Tec armor really gives my great confidence in crash protection.

Since my accident I have been on a mission of not only abrasion resistance, but armor impact protection as very high on the requirement list.

BTW, still cant slow my roll on "first farkel" stuff as you tried to help me with ;)

The Defender would be my first choice, but I also read a review the SAS-Tec armour stiffens up in the cold weather... HERE

Slow you roll? You've got to take the award for best farkled, zero mile FJR. I figured you ran out of OEM equipment to replace so you moved on to personal gear.

Ouch. No offense boys, but you've got more money than brains. Looks like nice gear but holy cow - friggin SPENDY! I can get a Tourmaster Transition II jacket for $160. Not as high quality as the Rev-it, but an excellent three season jacket. Has gotten me through two Iron Butt Rallys in all kinds of weather.

And for the price of the Defender GTX jacket and pants combo, I could get the gold standard - an Aerostitch suit or jacket/pants combo and still have a few hundred bucks left over.

Most likely really nice gear, but why pay those outrageous prices? For crying out loud - this isn't the BMW forum! :D

You assume I would be paying retail for the Rev'It...

The TourMaster did not fit me well, otherwise it's a nice jacket for the price.

I suspect those who say Aerostich is the "gold standard" have already broke out the credit card... Maybe it's the $200 fleece liner, or the $100 back protector that costs $45 everywhere else.

The materials they use are not impressive, and 2-3x the cost of other comparable gear.. So if you do not need custom sizing, where is the benefit to Stich? If their prices where reasonable I would love to support a made in America company.

I can't comment on the Horizon jacket but the Sirocco jacket from Rev'it is awesome. We also have summer Air jackets from rev'it...We love all the Rev't stuff!!

Tour Master Intake 3 jacket Have used it in 32 degree weather and it's been up to 82 here so far. I'm liking it but do have 2 complaints- collar could be higher and there's so much velcro.

No affiliation with the craigslist add but did buy a similar jacket from him.

If you are a size large check out the deal on this Firstgear TPG Rainier jacket. He had several and I happened to get a brand new one for $200. The used one is in great shape and worth every penny.

Rainier TPG lg

Luckily you don't have top wear it like in the picture.

If I were looking for a 3 season jacket right now, I'd seriously consider the Olympia AST 2. in HiViz or course. Just like the one I recently bought my missus.

It's a hell of a versatile jacket and quite a bit less scratch than the RevIt, which also looks nice, though spendy.

The jacket I just trashed due to the brake fluid incident was an 4 year old Olympia AST HiVis. I was very happy with it for all but summer. The only reason I am looking at the Rev It is due to a possible hook up.

Otherwise it looks like another AST. I have no problem with that jacket at that price.

Dunno about that specific model. But I have a RevIt Off Track Jacket and pants and I have been less than impressed.

The gear itself is the best fitting most comfortable gear I have ever had. I was a little leary at first of the waterproof claim since they use an internal liner, but dammit I ran the whole IBR last year with the gear and never got wet.

But ...

The real world quality does not match the price. Many of the snaps that hold the jacket liner in have pulled out. (Why the rain liner snaps in instead of zipping in I dont know). When you have the insulated liner in its like having two loose fitting jackets inside a third. Have to pay attention to make sure you get your arm in the right spot. The velcro wrist cuffs broke off in the first year and I had to sew in a replacment (Which ironically worked way better than the original anyways!) In order to pin the cuffs of the liners into the jacket they have these irritating setup of two strips of material with two snaps, then a loop on the other item. You need to fiddle to get the thing through the hole and then snapped up. Takes me 10 minutes to swap in liners when it gets cold, very irritating. The pants have held up a little better. but the liner material when you have them in frays very easily and with the velcro on my riding boots the liners are already incredibly frayed.

To sum it all up for me. The gear looks great, fits great, but the build quality simply does not match the premium price.

Hope this helps

Colin

Thanks Colin, Yes that is the type of info I am looking for.

The Horizon jacket is new, and part of the reason it's hard to find many reviews.

If you get a chance to checkout the video here... Curious if you think some of those issues have been addressed or not.

I think inside the box on jackets. You got a badd azz bike so why would u have a generic jacket that doesn't also compliment your bike? So first comfort and feel then I think compliment.

This all-leather one was $400 but the Yami dealer was going out of business so it was half price, so I snatched it up quick. Feels great, perfect fit and does compliment my Titatnium Metalic FJR perfectly! Pulled up to a local watering hole last night and I'm sure it was the combination that had me a couple of hotties drooling, yes I got suckered into buying them a drink but the scantly views were worth it! Cheers!

I got the Rev It Horizon Hi Viz. It's nice, but doesn't vent nearly as well as the Olympia AST.

When I think about cold morning and warm afternoons the lack of venting, and additional price means the Rev It is being returned for the Oly AST2.

From the looks of the Rev It Horizon, I'm guessing it does well in the water, but the AST does a decent job in the wet stuff also.

TS1 shops at the seconds rack all the time. Didn't ya catch the defective Nike hat too?

On a more serious note: With the way my HiViz gear gets dirty, I can't imagine wearing any thing white.
