Last Sunday at Silverstone in the UK the second World superbike race had to be cancelled because of the torrential rain and high winds. A friend of mine who was in the padock saw a van rear end moved sideways by a gust.

However....in the first race James Toseland highsided on about the 5th lap of 22. He re-joined the race in 22nd position and climbed through to finish 8th. The crash wrecked a hose from his cooling system and drained it. He said he rode expecting the thing to sieze any moment. It was only the rain and cold that stopped it overheating. He also had a handlebar bent down.

Great, great race! Toseland has some steel cajones, doesn't he? Flying around on a busted bike that he expects to freeze at any moment... that was impressive stuff. Great dice at the front too. The Bayliss, Haga, Corser battle was nothing short of spectacular.

I love this series. I think it's some of the most entertaining racing -- on two or four wheels -- on the planet.

Aga, it got canceled due to rain and not my tivo going nuts. It was an amazing race. I just could not believe that Toseland was able not only to complete the race but actually came in the top 10. granted it helped that many people crashed out, but he showed a true race character.
