Jerry took his last breath Thursday night, at midnight.
Jerry Beem was a very good friend. But he was a friend to all who met him. What made people know Jerry was the fact that he created the 1st Chapter and 1st Conference of the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, Inc west of the Mississippi River. What made people like him was his never ending dedication to the sport of motorcycling, it's riders and, of course, the Blue Knights. And, of course his smile.
Jerry had more motorcycles than could fit in a double garage. He rode Harleys, Sport Bikes, Touring Bikes, old bike and new ones. He rode them all. He will be sorely missed by those who rode with him.
I will always remember Jerry, in Wenatchee, WA, as he rode the oposite way that my wife and I were going. Jerry's immaculate Kawasaki KZ1100 was smoking .... white smoke. He had just come from a long ride and he had obviously put diesel in it. Took us most of the day to get that bike running so he could get back to Seattle. We laughed and kidded each other. I wish we could do that again.
Jerry was Mr. West Coast for the Blue Knights. And 2 years ago, he was named International Blue Knight of the Year at the West Coast Conference Convention.
Jerry was all about motorcycles. He lived them most ferrvently than any person I have ever known.
I know there must be some Blue Knights on this forum. If there is, take a curve for Jerry. And say a little prayer for his lovely, courageous wife, Marilyn. She never gave up on him, even thought she has cancer herself.
I just hope they don't sell diesel up there Jerry!
