Welcome Graler to the FJR group. I told you this is a whole different beast than the NH!!!

Respect the Brakes, my friend. You know what happened to me.

Respect the power too - this bike is so smooth compared to our former sub-liter carb bikes - it's deceptive. Yesterday, during a short slab portion of my day trip, I raised the windscreen until I feel the "fake tail wind", and then I'm just holding the throttle. I'm looking left and right in the empty fields as I cruise down the Interstate. Then I realize that I'm passing vehicles kind of quickly, so I look down at the gages. I'm doing 100 freaking MPH!!!

Let's plan on meeting 1/2 way one day next year for a weekend ride. That should make a good ride report.

I wanted to take a second to thank everyone on the forum for posting so much useful information. After several months of lurking and research I am pulling the trigger on my FJR. I have decided to pursue an 06 that is just a short plane flight and a nice 300 mile trip back. She is coming to me with some nice farkles (PCIII and G2 tube installed) the stock and aftermarket wind screen. She has a couple little cosmetic issues - another bike fell against it and left a little hickey. That will get fixed in due time. Only 2000 miles on it and she has fresh fluids and some new tires. The current owner gets some garage space back and I am thrilled. The price was very attractive to the point that I am voilating a long standing rule - I don't finance toys. Well there is a first time for everything. We are finishing up some bank stuff now and soon I will do my fly and ride. Any issues taking riding gear through airport security?

Hope to meet some of you soon.

Let the farkling begin. First on the list are some OES Sliders and the Real Time bag reflective decals (I do work for 3M so I have to support the provider).

Joe

ps. The Nighthawk is up for sale. I wasn't able to successfully negotiate keeping both.

Here is how you negotiate to keep both. "They each serve a different purpose. I'm keeping both."

I have an FJR and a Goldwing. I have five bicycles. I have a small fishing boat, a canoe and a kayak (quantity of fishing rods cannot be calculated). Each does something different than the other. Life is about passions. I don't play golf, gamble, go out drinking with the buddies or have interests in other women. So........ I'm just sayin..

Welcome to the forum.

I'm very suspicious. I wonder what she's REALLY up to.

Welcome! I sold my '85 Nighthawk S shortly after getting my '06 FJR. I miss the popping, "motorcycle sound" of that old air-cooled 700, but in terms of over-the-road performance, it's not even close. While the Nighthawk took me to Deals Gap, the FJR has taken me to Mount Rushmore and around Lake Superior in comfort and at a cruising average the Nighthawk only could dream about.

Congrats on the ride!

Best,

Sharif

Don't forget about SFO this spring in Arkansas. It's a great time with like minded FJR owners. You should have your FJR farkled to your satisfaction by then. :)
