Arrived at Golden about half an hour ago...Pretty dry until Revelstoke...then it rained in spots.

Loved the Kaslo/New Denver Rd,eh! Louanne loved the white water over the rocks, with the snowfaced mountains in the west as a background. I say yes to that, and nice road, eh? :)

Passed 4 Harleys on that road in a pass...I know, right? Now where is there a straight section, eh? Anyways, been behaving myself pretty well on this trip...trying be nice, polite, and blend in with the locals, ya know.

But, at the Nakusp Esso, some guy comes up to me and says, nice road, eh? I realize later he was one of the 4 Harleys. Welcome to Canada he says...Louanne hears him talking to the others about some guy from South Carolina...she didn't hear the rest.

Hwy 1 passing zones...awesome. Everybody pokes along...then all of a sudden it's the Indy 500. :D

The FJR wins every time. Including you Mercedes yahoos that don't want to be passed....going 140 in the passing zone, then not a nickel over after that. Or the other, staying slow in the left hand lane, then speeding up when it appears that I will shoot the gap from the right. Got you, too.

Scenery was awesome from Revelstoke to Golden! Sitting here in the Pinewood Motel with the baseboard heaters cranked to cut the chill.

Laundry tonight, hiking tomorrow.

Edit: Something going on over at the local Tim Hortons...every parking space filled, and people parked around the corner.

Thanks for the report. I am headed to Nakusp next month for the BeeCee Beamers rally and you are getting me excited to ride those roads. I now know which way out of Nelson I will take. Oh I can relate to the guy who is holding up a bunch speeding up when he get to the passing zone. Gets my blood pressure up when I'm in a car. Enjoy your trip.

Did laundry in Golden and enjoyed the mountains all around. The scenery is a hit with Louanne. Might hit Timmy's for breakfast tomorrow on the way to Lake Louise...if all those Canadians aren't here tomorrow, I might be able to get a bite.
+1 like..... Hint: The scenery is awesome from Golden to Lake Louise and on up to Jasper so Louanne will be very happy. May good weather be with you!

Hoping the weather holds out for you and Louanne. You've got some spectacular scenery coming up...rain and low clouds would be a bummer.

Ride safe buddy.

Careful...... check the local laws.... they probably max at 140 bcause you can have your vehicle impounded if caught 40 over?? It's 50 over in Ontario, BTW. Mandatory, no breaks.

Doing laundry kinda puts a damper on the trip. Certainly not the highlight. Once you get all fresh and smelling pretty, enjoy Lake Louise and Banff. They're both beautiful.

We enjoyed heading over to Lake Louise from Golden, BC. Big mountains everywhere!

Louanne packed a hikers lunch from items we got from the grocery store while waiting for laundry. Cashews, choc. covered peanuts, cheese and wheat thins, carrots, fruit, ice water in the CamelBak. We saw the sights at the Lake, and hiked a "moderate" (my ass) hike up to a Tea House at Lake Agnes. Whatever the vertical climb...it was double what I wanted to do. However, Louanne really wanted to get there, and promised a whole piece of pie at the top. The views near and at the top were stupendous...pictures to follow after we fly home. No pie at the top but a great, and I mean great Apple crumble to go along with the lunch.

We were going to leave Lake Louise, but Louanne wanted to ride farther to another lake in the Park. I looked to the east and saw potential trouble, and asked if she was sure. I said we might get wet, she said yep. Long and short, she saw her lake, we got socked in, I put on the rain gear...and took a few minutes being short with her. About 10 minutes later, I cooled down and apologized. She said, " no big deal", let's get on with the trip. We were out of rain in no time, and heading west with little traffic to Golden, BC. We stopped and split an entree at The Island Restaurant, definitely recommended. Tall Timber Ale went down nice with the meal. We got back to our room and are tucked in and dry with some weather coming through.

Hopefully, the weather will break as we head over and up the Icefields Parkway tomorrow.

Agent Goober reporting from Golden, where Loonies and Twonies are king.

BTW, Louanne walked over to Timmy's, but walked back without breakfast. 30 people waiting in line, and the parking lot was not near as full as yesterday. Too close to the hotels.

I don't know how to get around doing laundry on a two week FJR trip with wifey. I'm good for about a week, by then then the laundry starts standing up by itself, and people give sideways looks.
I do feel pretty now. I could sing all of The West Side Story all by myself now.

:D

Today we traversed the icefields parkway. One of a kind experience...beautiful beyond measure.

No tickets or impoundments, so I got that going for me. Tomorrow we will chill...possibly at some hot springs.

Had a draft of wheat ale at the Jasper Brewing Co. That and nachos and brownies/ice cream for desert. Yeah baby! :)

Photos to follow...
