Still chewing thru the Restraints
Hey everyone. I haven't forgotten about this place. I still lurk from time to time. I'm keeping my information on the FJR Assistance list for anyone that needs a hand as they are passing through.
I have been divorced for over a year now. I haven't sold the house yet. The Ex is taking her sweet time cleaning out her belongings. She is already making plans to get married to another guy she met last summer. She keep lying to me that he is "just a friend". Enough about that.
I now have three bikes.
08 Hayabusa - It's my favorite weekend toy. It has over 180 HP at the wheel right now. :dribble:
05 CBR1000RR - Track mistress. It corners better that should be legal. :assassin:
05 DR650 - Commuter bike. Good mileage and 10in of wheel travel.
We are going to try to get the house back on the market next month, if she gets her stuff out. When the house sells I will be looking to sell the DR650 and the CBR and pick up another 07 FJR. I love the color of that year. I might hold out a bit longer to find out if a Gen 3 is going to be sold in the US. I really do miss my 07 FJR. It's one of the best bikes I have every ridden. There is a used, low mileage, 07 FJR in my local shop. I keep going back to look at it. I think I might ask if they will take the DR and CBR in trade. I can use the Busa as my track bike. The FJR is a perfect commuter bike. It has been great for all kinds of weather. The DR is fun, but very exposed, yet I always find myself riding far beyond it's limits. The only things the DR really has going for it are, it's paid for and it gets 45-48 MPG not matter how I ride it. The CBR is a great track bike, but it's not very comfortable riding for more than 20 minutes at a time. The more I think about it the FJR can take the place of the DR and the Busa can cover track and weekend fun. The FJR and Busa can overlap for longer rides.
I have taken the Busa on a 4000+ mile ride last summer. It did very well, but the lack of locking side bags and not center stand made for a much less convenient trip. I'm not getting a center stand for the Busa because I would drag it in the corners too often. If all goes well I will have hard bags for the Busa soon.
See what I mean? The FJR keeps creeping back into my life. :dribble:
Registration and insurance is another reason I may chuck the DR and CRB for an FJR. I don't ride off road anymore. It doesn't bode well with my back. In fact I haven't ridden since mid November for that very reason. I ruptured my L4-L5 disc again.
Life post-divorce is not bad. I still see her boys occasionally. We have a great time visiting and going to the movies. I'm not stuck for any support. I got a good lawyer to help me out there. I have a good job and most of the other toys I couldn't buy while I was married.
Cheers,
Doug
