This is odd, I changed oils around 600 miles, but thought it wise to have a completed "initial service" so I took bike to dealership to do throttle sync. (I will do my own next time at $135 bucks).

Anyway, on the way home I'm hearing this high pitch noise that seems to change a bit with throttle. Sounds like a swarm of fricking crickets and seems to be coming from the lower right front.

Anyone do a throttle sync and experience anything like this? I should have made a U-turn and went right back, but I'm not sure I even want them touching my bike again.

So not only did they **** you for $135, they put it back together wrong AND didn't notice/care the crickets? What a joke.

wow problems with a new FJR ? I thought it was only H D that had problems according to...........................
HArdley riders are lucky if the only problems that have is crickets chirping!!

Don't go back to that dealer, they are bending you over BIG time on the cost of that TBS.

I had a quote from an independant dealer of $60.00 and local Yami dealer quoted $90.00.

I think it's only 1 hour labor so I would ask them why they are charging $135.00??

Take it back THIS time only and have them fix it...then never darken their door again!

As mentioned, definitely check for a vacuum leak.

Since you do plan to do it yourself next time, if it was me I'd raise the tank and have a look see to find out if all four vacuum caps are in there where they belong. If any are missing then take a picture before going in on Monday. Look closely at everything that has to come off to get to the TBs so you can verify that they re-installed every fastener. This is a brand new bike and you deserve it to remain exactly like new. Make sure they know that you are going to be very particular about their work.

Taking a look will allow you to understand how to do it yourself next time and it will put your mind at ease as well.

I don't know what to think, I'm told the high pitch noise is normal (CA emmissions box) hose was off from the day I picked it up. So he found it off doing the TBS. Says the bike should have had that noise from the beginning.

Good advice though, I'm still going to lift the tank and just verify port caps are on.

I have a 2008 Ca model, no high pitched noise here.

Kaleefornia bike here and Throttle sync just done professionally about 500 miles ago.........runs whisper quiet, no noise...........they are pulling a con............

Check the vac hoses of course...... Is it possible you never heard the whine of the counterbalance shafts before..? They didn't happen to adjust them did they? No reason to I suspect, but gotta ask.
