Daughter came in saw the title of this tread, did the Dad what ARE you reading??? Explaned it was about girls picking up dropped bikes. She oh thats easy, just take off your helmet, give the head toss to shake out the hair, and some guy will run over and pick it up.

My 'little girl' added that misty eyes will also help.

This right here is some great advice... when riding the Trophy (700+ lbs) I just have to concentrate on things a bit more... where I stop, what's the ground like, slippery spots, ground level, etc. I'm lucky with a fairly long inseam (33") so can flat foot the bugger but once it's past that lean angle, ain't no inseam that's gonna save it.

The only times the Trophy has gone over has been at extremely slow speed or stopped (once when avoiding a golf cart in a parking lot... long story; once when my foot slipped out in something when I came to a stop; once on Kings Ridge Rd when the leaves on the side of the road masked the road dropping off... man, was THAT one embarassing... cause the whole thing was photographed for posterity's sake!! <_< ).

And when it does go over, I try to avoid acting like a "girl" but rather like a "rider" and just ask someone to help me lift it ;) ... and folks are pretty dang nice about it cause it's happened to just about everyone at one time or another. B)

Don't underestimate forethought.
Not like there isn't a gagillion things to think about already but when you ride big bikes

you need to plan ahead regarding how to stop and park to avoid the need for backing up,

stopping on unlevel or slippery surfaces, extreme turns, etc.

Learning to put one foot down (on the high side) instead of trying to tiptoe both

(unless you've got legs long enough to really flatfoot).

Of course sometimes things happen too fast and you must deal as best as possible.

once when avoiding a golf cart

Hopefully You had permission to Play Through.......

Scoops; Don't let the size of the FJR intimidate you, Lot's of Ladies do very well on the bike.

Sounds like you have the right attitude.

Ride Safe.

the 'misty eyes' are a last ditch. I find always wearing a v-neck top under my jacket is better insurance than carrying a BCAA card
