Was a another hot valley day, well over 100f, I Pull beside a Beamer k12 at a stop sign,( nice looking bike)

He starts rev'in it up, wait'in to get the jump after the intersections clears, He goes first, I nail it, 9g up to 4th gear, start to back off around 110mph, look in my mirror he's couple hundred feet behind me! hahah

We then rode together for abut 10 miles then went our separate ways. Was all in good fun, but it feels good to know I'm the winner!!!

9K in 4th? I was on a little speed run in Nevada when I looked down and the tach was 9K but the speedo was only at 140 what the F??K. Oh crap I was in 4th

The K1200S and K1200R runs in the 10's.

Ok, this got me curious so I went to BMW's website to look at some information. The first thing I noticed was the weight. 546 wet. Then I noticed that they consider it a sport bike. That is a very heavy sport bike to have a mere 167 ponies. They say it will run with the fastest production bikes in the world... do they mean top speed? If so, I DOUBT it will run with the Busa, Zx-14, R-1 etc... Do they mean raw acceleration like a 1/4 mile race? If so, I'll take a GSXR750 and watch the reaction of the proud BMW owner as he gets smoked.

Its down 20 or more horses and several ft/lbs of torque to the Busa and ZX-14 at about the same weight. Its down on horses to at least three of the litre sport bikes and at least 100 lbs heavier than any of them (wet). Its power to weigh ratio is at least .4 larger than the Gixxer750. In fact it almost has the exact power to weight ratio as the Triumph 675. Even the R6 has a much better ratio despite being half the displacement.

That isn't a modern sport bike. It appears to have similar performance to a 8 year old CBR1100XX. Good job BMW, your speed technology is less than a decade behind Honda. I'm not impressed. I just don't get what all the fuss is about when it comes to BMW.

Rode one, it was fast. Not too sure on the racing point of view. Will it beat a FJR, depends on the rider IMO. I will say, not as fast as Busa, ZX-14, R-1. But fast enough for me. My old Vmax was fast enough for me. B)

It should smoke an FJR with equal riders. It is labelled a sport bike not a sport touring bike. Just like an FJR will smoke a Wing with equal riders, they aren't apples to apples. The direct comparison to the K1200S is the Busa or ZX-14. Either will run the BMW into the ground. With equal riders of course. For over 4k msrp less...

That said, BMW does do some interesting things. They have the courage to put new technologies on the showroom floor that the Japanese tend not to. There are plenty of other positive attributes in BMW's favor as well. I also have to admit that I like the looks of many of the newest BMWs.

Mike, I am not bashing BMW in general, just the K1200S. To me it is overpriced and overhyped compared to its direct competition.

ya just a bunch of old farts that don’t know how to have fun, I was simply posting some fun we had, racing around, yeah I smoked him, but it was all in good fun, then we rode together for about 10 miles, you guys missed that part completely, all you want to do is jump on your soap box and whine. Not only that, it sure gave you guys something to talk about, a hell of allot more interesting then the carp you normally read about on here, Yeah I know, your now gonna get mad about this post to. You big Cry baby! Go sit on your bike and cry, Remember this conversation next time your Bashing Harleys or making fun of the Cages, or other A-' whole's that don't know how to drive!

A few guys on this board are funny and know how to mess around and have fun, but allot of you are just old Farts that want to do nothing but complain and pick apart someone's post. I guess you have nothing better to do! If you can't have fun and a few laughs, "fishing stories" etc. yeah and every 8 inch fish you ever caught never turned in to 12 inches by the time you got home either, you should be ashamed of yourself you lying thing. So maybe I was mistaking about what fricken gear I was in, God forbid I was in 3rd and not in 4th, oh my God, he's lying, kill him, shot him, some of you should really be ashamed of yourselves.
