The Motorcycle Sport-Touring Assoc., formerly known as the Honda Sport Touring Assoc., is having their annual fall rally in Kerrville the first weekend in November.

This is a great time to ride the hill country. Usually around 200-250 bikes show up and all brands are welcome.

I will be there - anyone else?

Here is a link to their website.

HHMMMM!!!

Darn, in between the weekends of Lone Star Rally and the Motorcycle show in Dallas. Will definitely look harder at this, did not know where Kerrville was-do now.

Looks like some good fun gonna be going on...will get back with ya, if going.

So many good weekend rides, and limited time to go, what a shame!

This MSTA ride will be well attended and should prove to be lots of fun. MSTA rallys are mostly set up for "RIDING" and usually lots of it! Fun Stuff!!!!

I'll be there; how many are riding from the Houston area that you know of?

I was originally planning on going, but am in fund conservation mode at the moment, trying to pay for a dove hunting trip to Argentina next year.

You guys have fun!

Groo - you can always get more money.
We are talking about riding in the Hill Country here......
Is the banquet and free year's MSTA membership that comes with it worth doing? Or are we going to search out our own dining experience?

Hey Tim - yes, the banquet is always good and they give away lots of stuff during it.
We should plan on going.
O.K. signed up and they may have my MTSA membership packet at the rally. I'm beginning to get pumped about the Hill Country already.....just hope it doesn't pour down rain.

Got back this afternoon from the MSTA rally in Kerrville. FJRMGM, another long time riding buddy of mine, and I had a really great time in the hills. We had a great time, covered a lot of territory and enjoyed almost perfect weather. This was one of the best weekends in the Hill Country I can remember. Great riding, great people and great weather. I love it when a plan comes together! To make it even sweeter, I got the suspension settings changed at Destination Cyclesports in the middle of the riding, so could see the stark "before" and "after" of the mysteries of damping, rebound and preload. My '05 now feels like it "fits" me for the first time. Let's see, now, Spring in Arkansas seems to be next on the list of things to do......

PICs! Pics! Torture me with what I missed.

Glad you guys had a great ride, will be looking for it next go-round..or maybe just do'it in the spring before the heat wave.

Sounds like you guys had a blast...

I'm curious... what are the new suspension settings on your FJR?

Tim and I had a great weekend of riding in the Kerrville area.

For the first time in four years of going to this rally, I registered and became an MSTRA member and went to the banquet.

My $30 investment paid off - I won a $200 Park N Move garage motorcycle mover from www.legalspeeding.com

I believe there were 138 registered participants.

The "long distance" award went (again) to some guy who rode down from Washington state. This dude averages about 50k miles of touring a year.

And for those of you who say you are too old to ride - there was a 90 y.o. legend who rode his SV-650 from California (again). This little old guy just likes to ride.

One of the suspension adjustments they did on Tim's bike was to move the fork tubes UP in the triple-tree about 1/4 inch.

Tim would not allow me to reverse engineer his suspension settings to see what else they had done.

But, to say he was more than pleased with the "After" results is an understatement.

Mike and I made a brief parking lot effort to determine what the settings were, but didn't have the proper tools to do so. I think I could figure out what my current settings are and post them, but they would probably be specific to my weight, the bike's laden weight, and maybe even some of the additional data on the symptoms I was experiencing that I gave the tech in Kerrville. I'm pretty sure the difference in my weight and that of FJRMGM would result in a less than satisfactory setup for him than if it had been done specifically to his criteria. My point here is that if you've got someone who is experienced at doing suspension setup and mods it would pay to seek out that person and get it done. I posted this to the FJR Specific Discussion part of this Forum and there is a LONG thread on this topic there with some general recommendations for setup that might be of help here. I think suspension setup would be a GREAT opportunity for a regional technical session, the same way that valve adjustment and other tech sessions have been handled in the past. I'm sure no expert in this area, but I can surely see positive results from what was done. At the end of the day, it pays to have someone who knows what they are doing.......
