More correctly I should have said, "Any gear, with the exception of neutral, inhibits the opening of the glove box." Sorry for the confusion. I think its Yamaha's attempt to keep us safe, to not be distracted while operating our bikes! I would be interested in the "work-around" that Toe-Cutter mentions. I'll put it on my winter list of 'bike-things-to-do'.

What's a neutral??? My bike ain't never been part of whatever that is.
....and what a stupid design ...no wonder i could never get my glove thing open without force and why it's all tweaked now ...from yankin' it open. That is a stupid design.

I can think of about 3times in 55K miles that my fjr been in neutral. Even less on the other bikes.

Only bad things happen in neutral ---as proven by these moronic fascinating kickstand threads.
