We haven't had a gun thread for awhile so keep it clean and on track.

Last night on the way to get my bride a new puppy I was able to trade into a Kimber tactical custom II .45 auto. I traded a S&W .357 that I got in a labor trade so I wasn't into it very much and I still have 3 left.

Haven't tried it on the indoor range in my shop but after I get it clean I'll blow off a few rounds and report back. I already have a Colt series 80 and a Springfield V10 ultra so I will have a good cross section of 1911 .45 autos. I really like the 1911 platform because it's so simple and well proven.

Back to the puppy, I got to name him so I picked........Kimber. Hell of a name for a wiener dog.

3? You greedy bastage! I'm just now looking to acquire number one! Probably be a Springfield xdM as I like my .40

Soon as I quit dropping funds to return the crackshot 26 to working order. It isn't worth the $$ spent but it's been in the family since the 20's

I need to get more into hand guns. I have enough to protect and destroy, but want to learn more and get some additionals..

I just finished putting 50 rounds through it with no issues. It's nice having a big shop with a bullet trap in it. I haven't tried my hand loads yet so that's next. I like the trigger on my Colt better but it took me a long time to get it tuned. the Kimber is ok but has to much over travel so I need to adjust it a bit

If the handloads blow up your gun.... ?

Idk.. I'd trust my hand loads over most if not all of them...

Pretty thrilled with the pair of Dillon 650's I got running

Have 2 Kimbers. Pro-Carry-II and a Custom Shop Super Match that is muy excellente. Love them both.

Had a Colt Combat Commander that sucked ass. After spending more than the cost of the pistol on trying to make it reliable, I dumped it. Never will own a Colt 1911 again. Now I love my Colt Python (4" blue) that was handed down to me when my Dad passed away but will only ever own their revolvers over from that time forward.

The first thing I bought with my first "real" job was a Colt Gold Cup National Match series 80. No, it was not for me. It was a gift for Dear Old Dad. In 1988 that thing cost me $640. That 1911 has been very reliable, reasonably accurate, and is a thing of beauty. Either you love the 1911 platform or you don't. I happen to love them and would like to own a nice Kimber to go along with Dad's Colt.

Of course I don't have time to shoot or handload anymore but it would still be nice to have one.

I've heard that more than once. My series 80 took a little work on the trigger and some polishing on the feed ramp and barrel hood but it's been rock solid for many thousand rounds.

It didn't like soft lead hand loads at first but the polishing solved that . Now it cycles on any ammo I feed it and is as accurate as it was designed to be. A better bushing and barrel would improve the group size but I am happy knowing it goes bang every time. Time will tell if the the Kimber is as reliable. I hope so.

I don't have anything against Kimbers, but I prefer Springfileds. When I bought my first 1911, I asked everyone who knew anything about guns what they thought. A couple said Kimber, but the overwhelming majority recommended Springfield.

This has been my duty gun since 2006:

It has seen thousands of rounds and except for some wear, is still just like it came out of the box. It has never malfunctioned. Not once, and I've tried. I went through a SWAT school and purposely didn't clean it, just to see if it would fail. It wouldnt after 2200 rounds. I ran lube through it, but that was it. I trust my life to this gun every day.

This gun drives tacks. It shoots way better than I do, so it makes it easy. I own a few 1911s and all but one of them are Springfields. However, my brother carries a Kimber Eclipse off duty, and he loves that little gun.

I have a Springfield V10 ultra compact and it's seen a load of rounds without any issues. It has a ported barrel and slide which really reduces muzzle flip. It's stainless so it's a little heavy to carry but is sure nice to shoot.

Not a gun fancier...don't own any guns, not since I putzed around with a Ruger 10/22 about 35 years ago, but there is just something about a 1911...it's just the BEST looking handgun on the planet, as far as this old phart is concerned. They are just gorgeous.

Thanks for the pic, AJ.
