I put the 7/8' drop koubalinks on, and since I have the Heli bar tripple clamp, I was able to raise the fork tubes about 5/8" without any interference from the clip ons. I had to dial in about 4 more clicks of rebound damping on the rear shock. I rode it about as hard as I ever ride and didn't drag anything, so I would say this is a good mod. Handling not affected once I dialed in some extra damping on the rear. The center stand is useless though. Side stand still has plenty of weight on it. I am thinking that maybe a rear wheel stand would be better than trying to use the center stand, and I could remove the center stand.

Any recommendations for a rear wheel stand that will fit these bikes?

I use Pit Bull stands for my other bikes; very high quality. I don't know if their standard rear stand will work with the drive shaft.

I had lowered my bike and didn't have any problems with the center stand
What issues are you having?
Can't get it on the stand unless I roll the rear wheel on a 2 x 4. Maybe I could if I mostly lifted it, but not by standing on the lever, and I'm not gonna throw my back out gettin this thing on the stand. All my other bikes were put on the center stand to refuel and often to park. Not this one.

It's a matter of technique more than anything else. My bike is lowered 1" in the rear and .400" in the front. I can still get it on the center stand fairly easy, however it is tougher than when the bike isn't lowered. I'm not the strongest goon to be sure.

Lowering does make it a little harder but what's wrong with the 2" x 4" (a 2"x 6" gives you a little more room to play)?

You're not going to carry an aftermarket rear wheel stand to a gas station (but you could a short 2" x 4") and around the house, it's a lot easier to store than a stand.

on my old goldwing (GL1000) i removed the center stand cut 3/4" out of the middle and welded it back together. made the bike very easy to get on the stand, but didn't lift the wheel very far off the ground.

Well, since I don't really have to put it on the center stand for anything other than to service it, I probably will just continue to use the wood method

I'll have to take a picture. Something tells me the 08 might be different somehow because there isn't enough of the stand hitting the ground to make it happen. I was able to do it before I lowered the front though.

I have an 08AE and tryed the 7/8" links. I found it next to impossible to get it on the center stand. Also didn't like scraping the pegs. I Put the stock links back on and bought some boots with thicker soles. Problem solved. Any body want some Kubalinks? :clapping:

It doesn't take much lift to the rear wheel higher to make centerstand effort manageable. Yes, one can muscle it onto the centerstand with a Kouba link and forks raised in the triple clamp, but the effort is reduced close to stock with a 1/2'' piece of plywood. The thin piece of plywood is more manageable than a 2x4. Try it, you'll like it.

what other brand or type of lowering links have you guys used?

I've been looking at the 7/8 kouba or another brand which are 30mm which i believe is alittle more than a inch. anyother input?

Thanks
