Another plunge to the deep parts of California, where hardly any FJR's have ever been, except for a few lucky ones. Well I got an email talking about this great lake, great views and beautiful mountains so I will take this opportuntity to ride there. As for me, I live way down south, so I'll be coming from Laguna Hills, taking hwy 5 into bakersfield 178 east into Isabella Lake. After lunch we will continue on 178 into 395 to Hwy 15 and back home for us guys who live in SoCal. This ride will be spectacular since all the rain will make all the hills green with envy, and the gleaming lake waters will make your ride unforgetable (at least for me when I finally see it for the first time). There will be NO RAIN, forecasted on the weather channel, so it will a very very nice day to ride. Get your groups together, and lets ride.

SoCal Guys, we can meet either at the Chevron station in San Juan Capistrano (Ortega & hwy 5), Chevron at Lake Elsinore (hwy 15 and hwy74) and pickup anyone who wants to meet us somewhere around San Dimas or Glendora. Meeting times to be announced.

There is another great suggestion to ride through Oildale 155 first then Glennville to Lake Isabella back into bakersfield on 178. I like that route too

Another email suggestion, lots of possibilities now.

"Man you're going to miss some of the best stuff by going all the way to

B'field on 5. Check your maps. Get off at Castaic and take Lake Hughes Road to Elizabeth Lake Road, turn left and go on until you get to hiway 138. Turn right and head east to 90th street. Turn left, north, and follow that into Tehachapi. Jump on the 58 freeway west for about 5 miles to Caliente-Bodfish Road and get off the freeway. This road takes you thru the hills on a small 2 lane road that ends at Lake Isabella. This route will be shorter mileage-wise but should take about the same amount of time, maybe a bit more"

Yeah, but what about us guys from the highland clans? I'd want to ride as a group rather than meet up at the lake for lunch, then back home alone. Get to Bakersfield however you want, then we can join up and head east. Just my .02

If someone would like to lead the loop to isabella and back, I'd meet you guys at bakersfield.
I thought you guys were heading on to 395 and 15 back south? I haven't looked at the map for my options homeward yet, but don't want to affect your planned route. I just want to tag along for the leg from B-field to the lake. It's your ride, and your lead as I see it.

B) Hey Zzkenoman when you get to Lake Isabella be sure to do the back road to the land of the lost. Called road 58. Take Isabella Blvd to Callente Bodfish Rd to Bealville Rd that will deadend into Hwy 58. You will not be sorry. Turbo Dave showed me this route . Very cool.

Thanks Dan.

I'm looking at all the options on the map tonight, if all is well, I will end up on the callente bodfish road to Lake Isabella, still working out the details, eitherway its going to be a Fantastic ride!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, looking hard at the google earth map, and making the final route tonight. Looks like the callente bodfish road is #1 to lake isabella, so thats my first goal. Lunch is second priority then the quickest way home to orange county. If anyone is interested from deep down south of orange county, you can meet me at the chevron station in san juan capistrano at 8am, eastside ortega and hwy 5. kickstands up at 815am. wear warm clothes, see ya guys.

Hope to see a good turn out, this should be good! Hope the wheather holds up. I'll be sure to point out the dam bridge and the dam river, the dam store, the dam gas station, near the dam intersection. All this from one dam good trip! (you'll see what I mean when we get there) Maybe they will have some dam good food too. :p

I'm interested, especially if some back roads are in the mix. I like the suggestion of Lake Hughes Road to 138 towards Tehachapi. Done that a few times myself. Also great roads above Kernville heading to Ponderosa Ranch and beyond, but likely too far north for those coming from the OC and south.

The weather Saturday AM still looks to be wet. It could be dicey going over the grapevine and twisty roads are likely to have runoff and junk in the turns. Sunday looks to be the better weather day at this point. I don't mind getting a little wet, but I'm not keen on slip-n-slide conditions or mildew under my arms! ;)

Aw crap! My internal calender is all fachocta! I thought the 1st was Sunday! Right now the Feej is on it centerstand with a jack below the headers, no wheels and no battery! Dang, ain't gonna make it. :(

Larry, ignore my email earlier this am...

After looking at several forecasts for lake isabella, it will be still raining from tonight till 11am tomorrow, which means there will be run off debris, mud and anything else on the roads into Lake Isabella, plus temp will be in the 40's until 10am. Meaning Ice on the roads also, can't take that chance. Will postpone till further notice.

I think if I plan it right, we might be joined with alot of new guys with the 06 bikes that might want to come along. Of course they will have to catch up with all of us who farkled our bikes, and it takes time to breaking-in there bikes! I'll post a new date soon, won't be long till all this rain goes away.

When is the new date? Dont make it on the 8th :( I cant go then. Sunday may work if the Rain forecast clears.
