Just wanted to let anyone interested know that entries are now being accepted for the 2011 Loring AF base speed week.
This is a event that some may want to attend, even as spectators, as it is reasonably close(about 20 mins from Grand falls NB)
It is pretty cool to have an event like this in this part of the world that may produce a few land speed records.Loring Air force base is now decommissioned(mid 90s) but hundreds of millions were spent on a refit just a few years before.The main runway was built to support the big bombers like B52s and is a few KM long.
It is a long way to Bonneville for us in Atlantic canada,and it is really cool to think that this type of event is now in our backyard.
Word has it that many of the entries that usually attend Bonneville will be at Loring AF base as it long enough to support speed records,has no salt and is much closer to sea level than Bonneville.
