I was over to Europe a couple of months ago, France/Holland and was quite freaked out by the lane splitting there. No one on a bike sit's in traffic,... they fly between car with (believe me only F'n inches to spare) and get quite upset at motorist's in auto's if they don't yield over in the car's lane. It's almost as if the cagers have to constantly watch their rearview for passing traffic in their own lane.....

Hell, that's the way they drive their cars in Europe.

The European's have had these gas prices years before we had them and they learned to adjust and conserve. Motorcycling special priviledges does just that!

When I commuted in L.A. about 35 miles each way, in a car it took me about 1 1/2 hours to get their one way and on my cycle it took only 40 minnutes and saved a great deal of fuel.

We have to learn and adjust to these new changes and Lane Sharing is one wonderful way to do so.

Got my First Letter Response from my State Senator:

"Thank you for your fax about motorcycle lane sharing. Government demands participation from its citizens, and far too few take the time to become involved.

Please know that I will focus on the important concerns regarding lane sharing and give it the attention it deserves. The legislative process is a long road, but I am confident in our ability to resolve pending issues and serve the people of Georgia.

Hearing the concerns and stances of my constituents is of great consequence to me, and your comments and opinions weigh heavily in my legislative agenda and decision-making.

Thank you again for your thoughts. If there is any way I can be of service to you in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me again."

Well this is a start, I will have to call him this week and see if this can move forward.

Gov Purdue's Response to my Letter:

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts regarding legislation to allow lane sharing of motorcycles. I appreciate your concerns.

So that this situation can be addressed to your satisfaction, I encourage you to discuss your ideas with your state legislators. Should you need their contact information, it is available from your county board of voter registration.

The members of the General Assembly in your district can actually sponsor or vote on legislation on your behalf. When such legislation reaches my desk for signature, I will give very careful consideration to the concerns you have voiced.

It is always good to hear from my fellow citizens, and I appreciate you making me aware of your interest in this matter.

Sincerely,

Sonny Perdue
