Kind of makes me glad I let you two go without me on that one. Don't get me wrong, I would love to do that, but I'm too polite to do it at speed.

I'll say it again though...

I LOVE CA LANE SHARING!!! :yahoo: :clapping: :yahoo: :clapping:

Heh good vid Jdog B) reminds me of the last time I was down LA way

As Mr. Duff mentioned, "LANE SHARING" . TWN would have said it no other way and informed you of your mistake my friend! :nono: And I wouldn't normally do this but this one is for Tim.... :****: So now back to topic...... PM. <>< :D

F*** that!!

You Cali guys can keep your lane splitting / sharing. I can see maybe splitting lanes at a stop light when the cages aren't moving, but I gotta tell you, I just do not trust those other drivers enough to get that close to the side of them while underway.

I'm not in that much of a rush to get anywhere.

Most people will think the samething until you are out there in 110 degree heat in a SOCAL traffic jam. Then you appreciate the lane splitting very much so.,

MAN the FEEJ has got a fat azz. Just happy she is nimble.

......and here endeth the first lesson, for those from out of state, headed for Santa Barbara later this month. It has been rumored that there is an hour or so, during the middle of the night, when the 101 doesnt have bumper to bumper traffic.

For those who say they would NEVER dream of lane sharing, spend a while on the congested roads before making your decision. It's rare that I will share lanes, since I commute at off-peak hours but I'm very glad of the opportunity to do so when necessary. Coming home last Friday along PCH, the line of cars was so long that each driver was waiting about 3-4 turns per traffic signal to get through. Some of the time, they had a green light but no place to drive into since the road ahead was still blocked for the next light. I'm not sure about having the courage to do it with a fully-bagged FJR but my little Ninja eats up that kind of traffic.

Way to go Richard - for making a challenging maneuver look easy. It takes skill to do that.

I'd do it with the cages moving under 30, after that it's too risky, at least in NJ.

I do remember driving a Chevy Beretta rental car around Sacramento and out to Yosemite in 91 on a business trip and thought the CA drivers were VERY docile.

If you blow by a LEO at speed, do they give you a thumbs up?

SPEED is the question. I've passed them at reasonable speed and never had an issue. IMO, and probably theirs, too, passing them @ 50 or 60 when the traffic is going 20 would likely produce unfavorable results.

that's hair raising shiit at that speed, all it needs is one cager do act funny and move his wheels...ask old michael about the pain from his broken ribs

So then if traffic is moving 45mph you can scoot by at 50-60 and they're OK with that?I though it was for really clogged roads, <30mph, but above that, you had to stay in line.
