This (my '08 FJR) is my first Yamaha, purchased at Rio Yamaha in Las Cruces, NM. https://www.rioyamaha.com/ Got it out of the shop yesterday following a 600-mile service. To date, everybody - Alfred, who sold me the bike (and showed me yesterday how to properly adjust the seat height), Shane (sales manager?), who sat me down yesterday and assured me he'd do anything it takes to make me happy (well, not ANYTHING), Johnny, service manager, who knows pretty much everything, Jerry, the mechanic who worked on my bike and took time to explain to me today the ins and outs of windscreen adjustment and, btw, convinced me to order a shop manual, Thomas and _________ in Parts, (dang! I forgot his name... he did me good ordering the shop manual , Meghan, for the tats and videogame lore, and everyone else working behind the scenes.

Actually, I've never had the misfortune to experience a bad shop and some of the horror stories that go with it. Props to Las Cruces Motor Sports (for taking good care of my Honda Interceptor) and Barnett's Harley Davidson (in Las Cruces) for babying me and my Fatboy.

I look forward to a long life with my FJR. It's my first shaft drive, but it won't be my last.

If you have experience with Rio Yamaha in Las Cruces, please post your observations here.

Thanks!

Well, here I am a couple years later with a problem. The dealer went out of business, leaving me with a worthless 3-year service contract. My new dealer, Las Cruces Motorsports, informed me there was nothing they could do. And I agree with their assessment. However, does that mean I'm totally out of luck? Jerry, the service manager, said others have contacted Yamaha USA with the same problem but received no satisfaction whatsoever. Do I just bite the bullet or is there an avenue I haven't thought of?
