-- we need a recommendation for a decent one, 1 night only, that won't rape my wallet.

We'll be coming in to Vegas on I-15 from the south and leaving on I-15 outta the north of town.

Just spent a half hour on GoogleMaps/hotels and already got hotel overload

What day of the week? Makes a huge difference.

Ive paid as little as $37 a night at the Luxor.

I use the Aliante Hotel in North Vegas. It's easy to get to from the 15 and away from the strip and all the BS. If I recall we got a palatial room for around 60.00 on a weekend. that was a couple years ago. There are a number of restaurants in house along with all the casino crap so once you are there you don't have to go anywhere else.

When Jacob went to school in Flagstaff we found L.V. was a good stopping place on the way. Found a place that we thought was great, the Tuscany Suites hotel. This was 4 or 5 years ago, but the rates were amazingly low--$25 a night! I just looked on one of the travel websites and they're saying $41 now, but it was actually a darn nice hotel, two or three blocks off the strip, had a casino and restaurants if you want to use them. The thing I really remember about this place was it had the largest rooms of any hotel I've ever stayed in anywhere. Jacob slept in a cot they brought in the first time (could have held about eight more), and after that we got separate rooms cuz they were so cheap. Don't know why you'd need that much space, but if you like playing soccer in your room . . . Room also had a kitchen with a kitchen table and chairs, coffee, reefer and microwave.

--- why not !! LOL

Gawd - hate looking for a decent place when I'm a cheapskate. A place sans bedbugs is not much to ask - trick is not to read the reviews

The Linq hotel right downtown. About $40 a night. small hike to parking .

Not that just about anywhere in the strip you will pay around $40 in the form of a "resort fee" and vegas hospitality tax (or something like that). A $"40" room at the luxor wind up being around $80.

That said, we use hotels.com with success for finding cheaper rooms. Fortune hotel and is just off the strip. For a "cheap" place it is meh oh, but o dont recommend. Their resort fee is only $10.

But, yeah, the Linq, Harrahs, Flamingo, Luxor, all nice and cheap(-ish).

Oh, note that almost all strip properties now charge around $15 a day for parking. Us Californians were up in arms when that happened. Haha.

You could also stop in Primm (state line) for probably cheaper than most of what you'll find in vegas. Resort fees are lower there. Or you could blast all the way past vegas about the same distance the other direction and stay in Mesquite.

Most of the places mentioned are on "the strip." Downtown is different. A little seedier, but kinda fun. I've many times nearly stayed at El Cortez downtown. They have decent reviews, and are cheap with a low resort fee. Might be an option. Silver Sevens is off strip on Flamingo. Decent, but older and smokey more well-worn casino. I'd spring for one of the places in the strip that were mentioned. You'll pay a lot on fri or sat. Sun-Thurs shouldn't be too bad.

But, like I said before, I'd scope hotels.com. The mobile phone app often has rates $10 less or so than the main computer website.

I stayed at Days Inn Las Vegas At Wild Wild West Gambling Hall last year in January. Low cost, decent room, several riders were there. I paid $60 including the resort fee/taxt that they charge everywhere in Las Vegas

Days Inn Las Vegas At Wild Wild West Gambling Hall
3330 West Tropicana Avenue
Las Vegas NV US

If you go to Las Vegas you should ride through Red Rock Canyon

If you like craft brewed beer and a fun place to eat and enjoy some good karaoke check out the Ellis Island Hotel Casino and Brewery. It is a couple blocks off the strip and they have free parking. The rates start at $20 for king room. The resort fee is $25 and Tax $6.00. I have never stayed at the hotel but been to the restaurant/brewery many times . Great food and craft brewed beer at prices you will not find elsewhere in L.V. The restaurant/brewery is a local hot spot with very friendly staff so you will not see a bunch of pin head tourists in the place. You will be one.

^ Second on this place. I've only been for breakfast a few times, but solid and reasonable. I've heard the rooms are decent, too. And convenient to the strip if you want to go and check out all of that circus. :)

Thanks for the recommendations ya'll. We booked at the Cannery on Craig Rd, but now I'm thinking Ellis Island.

But ------- trip had to be cancelled -- :-((

I'll be bookmarking this for future reference.
