Last Minute RTE 6/24 to Plain Jane's Diner

Anyone of you NERDS that can break away tomorrow, and would like to do a little Ride To Eat lunch ride, meet us at the big parking area at Lake Massebesic(on Bypass 28 just off the Massebesic Circle) in Auburn at 9:30 AM. From there we'll take a ride for a few hours winding north and west, eventually reaching Plain Jane's Dine on Rte 25 in Rumney, NH. After some gustatorial delights we'll try to find some decent roads to head back down towards the greater ManchVegas area by the end of the afternoon.

Supposed to be a nice day weather wise. Not so hot like it has been the past few days.

It may go without saying, but...

There may be a little bit of smooth, unpaved roadway covered, if'n other folks don't mind too awful much.

Not really going thru the lakes region on the way up (be headed more westward). But we'll be stopping at the Dunkin Donuts on Rte 3 & 4 in Boscawen at around 11AM. You could try and hook up with us there.

Looking like none now. I was originally thinking we'd ride up to Stinson Lake and then across to Blair Bridge (a few miles of dirt), but instead I have mapped out a route for both before and after lunch, none of which is dirt.

The dirt is more fun 1-up on the V-strom anyway...

Thanks, Ed. Yeah, some times even the spur of the moment stuff turns out to be good. Today was one of those cases, IMO...

We started out here:

Which is not a sucky place to be at 9:30 n a Sunday AM. And then we hit some nice little roads and boring old New Hampshire scenery:

The early morning part of the ride was definitely the best part (at least for me anyway) Sorry, Ed.

But the Eats at Plain Jane's Diner weren't bad either. I had a Cuban sandwich and Fries that were quite delectable. And Josie hammered back all of her Blue Plate #4 (which is a rare thing). Definitely worth a revisit someday.

As is the typical NERDS custom, although the Diner food was great. we were so famished that there were no food **** shots taken. If you wanna check it out, you'll just have to go yourself!!

Here's what the little CBA ride route looked like:

Only a little over 200 miles all told, for those in for the whole deal.

But maybe just as many smiles? I dunno. You tell me...

Fred, thanks for leading another great ride! And I'll even forgive you for the little dirt road adventure because the scenery was (almost) worth it!

The Blue Plate #4 was good, but like I said, any meal that includes both bacon and onion rings has to be good. Plane Jane's is definitely worth a return visit!

The only part of today's ride that wasn't good was the last leg home on 495-S after Jack and I parted ways. Hit a bit of homeward bound NH weekend traffic, but nothing too horrible.

No worries Fred, dirt roads are an opportunity for dust & paint chips & I'd sure hate to be brought up on FJR abuse charges LOL!

Okay, all kidding aside! I'm grateful to Fred for being kind enough to rework the route at the last minute (at the crack of dawn based on the time of his post) to eliminate the planned dirt sections, probably knowing my phobia of unpaved surfaces. Given that I now have the precious, irreplacable Beetle Bags installed on my bike and the fact that I'm vertically challenged, I'm even more nervous about unstable road surfaces! Fred not only revised the route, he also set the Garmin to "no dirt," so I'd say the real culprit here was Garmin!
