Here is one that is sure to bite me in the ass. If one is on tour and they notice a leaky fork seal would it be okay to drain that one fork tube in order to finish the tour? What harm (if any) would this cause?

I tied a rag around the fork leg below the leaking seal to catch the seepage until I could get home and have it repaired.

Yeah uh, don't drain it

You might try the ol business card trick. Take a business card or similar thin cardboard and run it up and around the seal. If it's just a speck of dirt or debris you may clean it out using that.

Has stopped more than one fork leak on my dirtbikes in years past.
