Another great product is Honda Cleaner & Polish. The tech guys at the tracks I used to frequent whined constantly as their inspection stickers would never adhere to my windscreens when treated with this stuff. Last I checked, using it on a Yamaha was NOT committing sacrilege....

Someone told me about it once. After it stripped the hard coating off my bike's shield I went to using products as they were designed. I like Meguiar's "Mirror Glaze" cleaner and polish for clear plastic. It will clean a shield like nothing else and leave it without a film that needs additional buffing (like Plexus, Novus, or furniture polish).

I use Pledge for wood surfaces in the house.

I use Back to Black on exterior surfaces which used to get treated with ArmorAll until that started eating them up when exposed to heat and UV. It's a conditioner and doesn't yellow.

[edit: NOT ON LEATHER! That gets Lexol ONLY!]

Curious why I would want to use Pledge verses regular washing and waxing with automotive style wax?

What are the advantages of using pledge?

The Pledge is not used to wash the bike...more so to clean the windshield and visor. But you could also use it as a detailing spray.

That's odd. I've never heard of Pledge doing any such thing. I've used Pledge on countless shields, helmets, fairings, windscreens, etc. over the years all with great results. Sounds like you got a bad coating on your screen.

Pledge also does a pretty good job at shining up the exhaust as well but, It doesn't bead water as good as wax. I have heard good things about bug slide.

After 35+ years in the lodging industry I'd rather not smell anything anymore that smells like furniture polish

.

What's worked well for me is Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish on my Yamaha Touring Windscreen.

I also like to wax my entire bike each season with the S100 Carnauba Paste Wax which does not leave marks, stains, white crap on any of the oddball plastic textures or on black engine parts etc. Lays down a good, solid base.

Then, throughout the riding season a quick & easy swipe of the S100 Detail & Wax aerosol product works real well. Just as advertised, it's a wax and wash combined product. I usually just wipe down the section with a damp Bounty paper towel, dry it and hit with the S100 on an as needed basis (not all that often really).

It is easy to pack and easy to use on the road. In my opinion not as easy or effective as a wet microfiber cloth carried in a zip lock baggy.

I'm supposed to wash and wax?? It gets a bath once a year... and I'm not sure I've ever waxed my ride. The ex wife did her bike once right before americade.... I spent that night doing the brakes because she waxed the brake rotors too

I use Bausch and Lomb lens wipes on the road. Before hand, on shield and screen, I make sure it's clean and polish it with a cloth used to remove wax from waxing the bike or truck. Major water repellency. Pledge isn't going to strip the coating off anything. It's just too greasy for me.

I bought a case of the Original Honda Polish before they reformulated several years ago.

It, the HP, works great as a windshield cleaner and as a Spray Detailer/cleaner on the road.

For Windshields, Hemet Visors, eye glasses etc I prefer "All Kleer" https://www.all-kleer.com/all-kleer-motorcycle.html a product from the aircraft industry; it is available through many motorcycle shops, and can be ordered online through Amazon etc....for a free sample follow this link https://www.all-kleer.com/sample_request_form.html

Pledge in the white can is supposed to be the best. I could never get excited about it.

I have given that up in favor of Novus. A lot less buff time and water beads up and rolls off in record time
Isn't Norm in charge of the buff time?? :) :) :) :)
am guessing that he has more experience at it........LOL

Get to the DollarStore and get the small spray can of Pledge. Use it for your windshield and visor cleaning with a microfiber towel.

I've used that combo for over 17 years.

Small spray can goes into the tank bag with the towel. saaahlick...
