I just warned a vendor that I would gladly write up a detailed report of my situation with them on this and other forums unless they solved some problems with their waranteed product and services immediately. Wow...I never got traction with them so fast even when I first ordered their product! Has anyone else used this forum to convince people not to screw them over?

Not personally. As this board gains in size and popularity we must always remember to use our forum for community good and not personal gain.

It's not directed at you OrangevaleFJR because I know you will use your powers for good and not evil. ;)

But we've seen a couple people slide down the slippery slope and try and blackball some vendors for what turned out to be their mistake. Anybody remember the guy that wanted to out an HID vendor to customs because he gave the wrong address or FedEx delivered it to a neighbor?

It's misunderstandings like that where we should follow the principles of the guidelines that apply to the dealer reviews.

Posts are to include ONLY information gained firsthand, not rumors , stories, conjecture, and minimize subjectivity. Also, please keep posts realistic. No trying to blackball a dealer cause they were 2 hours late with the service and didn't give you a free hat. Any libelous or ridiculous posts will also be deleted, no questions asked.

On the flip side of that some vendors could care less....which could then make you go uhmmmmmmm....

Realistically now, after perusing the forum in general, and the image section specifically, would you wanna cross this bunch? The ways your business, hell, your life, could/would be altered staggers the imagination.

Yes. When the stealership that I bought my FJR from was doing their 11th hour bait and switch on the price, threatening defamation on the boards was the only tactic of the many I tried that got them listening.

Then...I heard some vendors strike back :lol

Ignacio's post is a pretty good thing to remember. I would be very reluctant to blast off on a vendor on this forum because I know that I would impact their business and I do tend to be very understanding of issues facing those in business (having owned my own companies before).

I wouldn't slam someone out of malice, but I also would like to forwarn members of vendors that have crappy products and worse customer service. Sometimes you get what you pay for, this time in question I bought a "top of the line" product in claim, warantee and price and have got bottom of the barrel performance and customer service (defective product, 6 weeks since they got it back, 3 phone calls with nothing accomplished but broken promises).

If they don't resolve this problem in 24 hours, you'll know all about it ;)

Not so much to wield the sword as you describe, O'vale, but definitely yes as far collective knowledge of technical issues associated with the bike and not getting smoke blown up me behind.. .

At one unamed dealer, not my local, the technican made a very stupid statement which I politely challenged him on. He assured me that 'they all do that' to which I asked to use his pc, dug up this forum, and showed him the true light of day.. that was *really really* fun.

I threatened my wife with a post on this forum, and it brought her right in line real fast. Does that count?

That was in your dreams....right? ....or was that before she put your lights out? :derisive: .....

I recently had a problem with a vendor's product and I think that my posting here (and especially other's posts) may have spurred the vendor into a different course of action than they had originally planned. Mind you, I didn't set out to have it go down like that, but it certainly had an impact. I know for a fact that the vendor was reading (they told me so).

My situation turned out favorable, but one should proceed with caution when discussing a problem with a product or vendor.

My two cents.

OK-- I've only used the forum for attaboys: such as the prompt and reasonable resolution to a problem with a WigWag back off.

Last year I had a long drawn out problem with a missfire on an 06. I quoted this forum as to where I was getting some technical feedback from. The dealer old me that Yamaha UK had already told him that I was posting about the problem on here. In the end they gave me a full refund, whether it had anything to do with this forum I dont know. I do know that another Brit rider with the same problem read my posts and has since used the info gained to get himself a full refund. We both now have 05 FJR's.

Speaking for myself only:

If I read about a vendor problem that is reasonable on the purchaser's end, and the vendor has had all sorts of opportunity to take care of the problem and doesn't, well that vendor just lost all future business with me. And... (welcome to the global village) in future conversations with other people, if the subject comes up about that particular vendor, I will relay the story.
