The BMW's are under investigation for using dodgy fuel. If they are disqualified Hamilton moves up to 4th & takes the title.

Why is it that an Englishman just cannot accept that he is beaten? If there is an issue, and I say if because the regulations do not specify how to measure ambient temperature, then the cars in question had fuel that was between 4 and 2 degrees cooler than specified. (There are reports of a 5degree variation in the way the ambient temps were recorded on the day). Trying to allow for any performance gain this 'may' give (experts speculate for a maximum of 3 laps until the fuel temp in the car 'normalises') Hamilton would still have been a lap down on the winner, and there is no way he would have got near the three cars ahead of him. To do so he would have had to unlap himself by passing Massa and Raikonnen.

MaLaren, you've brought enough disgrace on the sport this year. Don't try and weasel in on a technicality. Sit down, shut up, and accept the result.

And as for the British commentators, willing the three drivers ahead of Hamilton to take each other out - how pathetic are you poms. I realise you have no sporting heroes to really cheer about, but you are sinking to new lows these days.

The rules that McLaren broke are the same rules that the cars with cooler fuel broke, a rule is a rule. McLaren were heavily punished for what happened an still fought to the end.

Oh and what about the current world superbike champion?

Thanks for the reminder. Well ridden James Toseland. Awesome first half of the season, and held it together through a lean patch to win comfortably in the end. Hope he does well next year too. As you guys like to call him: King James :Lkingsmiley:

I wouldn't have said a 2 point deficit after leading by 61 points mid season was winning comfortably. However he did what champions do to earn those extra few points. At silverstone he crashed in heavy rain. He wiped off a coolant pipe and lost all his water. He re-mounted and continued at race speed with no water in the engine and no temp gague. Only the driving rain stopped the bike from siezing and James finished 8th gaining valuable points. He crashed again at Vallelunga and re-mounted and rode on with bent bars to gain points again.

I know the odds are stacked against JT next year, but I have a sneaking feeling that he will do better than most rookies do. He is absoloutly on fire, I know that all riders are dtermined to win, but you only had to watch him go in the last 2 rounds of the world superbikes. He was out of the seat and sideways everywhere he was trying that hard. Tech 3, (his new team) have not had such a good season but have come good towards the end. Correct me if I am wrong but I think they had a 4th.?? He has 2 different trainers and a neutritionist (?) and is ''ready'' in my opinion. I reckon a top 15 finish in the championship next year is not out of the question.

I think you are being a little pessimistic saying a top 15 finish - I would back him for a top 10 overall, and if we have some changing-weather races he could get a few top 5 finishes. Maybe a podium, but that would be a bit like Vermeulen's win this year - weather evening out the performance differences, and a truly inspired ride on the day.

I just wanted to point out to the OP that the thread title itself was a spoiler, and I'd like to take a ball peen hammer to your nether regions.

Can't travel that far to do it, so you're safe for now. . . .

I was at Barber Motorsports Park on Sunday, recorded the race, but watched the recording knowing that Hamilton did not win the championship, thanks to seeing this thread title. I did NOT read the thread till after I saw the race.

Granted, that was almost obvious after the first 4 or 5 laps, but he almost came back far enough, and it would have been a different experience not knowing that he didn't.

More power to McLaren. Ferrari has no problem "winning" on questionable terms. It's actually funny to watch them act as though they deserve whatever they took from someone who actually earned it.

I'm about done with F1 anyway. After the tire incident at Indy, the Ferrari "secrets" farce that led to the unbelievable fines and sanctions against McLaren, The slimy **** Alonzo pulled, the comments Coulthard made recently about the sport, etc., plus the fact that the racing is absolutely boring, and that's about enough.

The two best things Formula One has going for it right now are Lewis Hamilton, and the unimaginable engineering that goes into the cars. Whenever I realize that I missed a race, I just forget about it and turn on some Football.

The racing that beats them all is MotoGP. Always exciting down to, and especially, the last laps. 125 Class is awesome racing!

In the UK there is no such thing as a ***SPOILER*** . Races are commented on as they take place on the relevant forums. I suppose thats because we are lucky enough to have most of the worlds motorsport covered live. I try hard to make it clear and not to spoil race reports. This was breaking news when I started the thread and there was not really a title I could have given it that would not have given it away. If I have wrecked your life then I apologise. If you would care to throw your hammer I will hold my relevant apendige as high as possible. :p
Whilst ranting is the thing, why oh why is every F1 thread moved from 'completely off topic' section to the 'motorcycle racing' section?
