I think the point when one switches from chopping the fenders to dropping the fenders comes round about the same time they want to quit washing and cleaning their bikes and just ride them!! :yahoo:

Oh yeah, my VFR is a garage queen. :p

I chopped off the fender on my 07 to make it easier to remove the back tire. I wish I hadn't, it left a big mess of sand and crap all over the taillight and the top box latch area. I pop-riveted on a piece of mud flap I got at Autozone which looks fine, then only after I'd done it, I found the piece I cut off. :)

I looked nice up until I rode it. Don't cut the fender off, it's a bad idea.

So PTParks, how is the deal coming on that '11? One thing is for sure, you will be a rear fender expert when you take delivery :) After you have ridden your new FJR, come back and ask us if you should cut down or expand the windshield at the other end of the bike  It's interesting to read all the pluses, minuses, and the heart felt testimony about the merits of each possibility. Then do what suits you.

Ok, I'll add my 2 cents here... My reflector broke off a long time ago. It doesn't take to much of construction on the road to coat the rear brakelight with mud and someone not to see you are stopping. I found that out first hand. Thank goodness for "BACK OFF" LED lights out of the path of dirt spray.

Plus my latch for my Givi trunk is always full mud making it tough to operate.

But then It's your bike and you are free to what ever you want.

This is one of those things that you have to do before you get it. I get the looks thing as I cut mine down. The back of my bike get so dirty compared to the other guys ride with. By the way a new fender costs $100 plus you have to take everything off the back of the bike to install it.

Save the part you cut off.
