I just started noticing today that when cranking the fjeer she beeps and this light comes on when cranking. It may have always done this but never heard the beep before. The light goes out as soon as it starts. I have a quick video if anyone knows to upload.

Thanks,

Jim

I have never noticed my 'THIS' light coming on. Any other info might be helpful. Miles, history, battery age, wire/connection condition, Maybe you should try pressing the 'any' key...

OK, sarcasm aside, we definitely need more info but is sounds like the beginnings of an electrical problem. I am no expert on gen 2s mayby a symptom of a ground spider going bad?

Also, what is beeping? The horn or is there some other audible warning system a PO installed?

Engine warning light coming on is normal during cranking. Beeping is not. Where's the "quick video"?

I believe it may normal from other comments I have received on other forums. I am just paranoid as I am prepping for my first attempt at an iron butt next weekend.

The light is the check engine light. It is supposed to come on momentarily like that, to indicate the thing is working. Only be concerned if it does not come on, or comes on and stays on.

I agree with kamal that the 'beep' is simply the starter disengaging.

Now get riding..

Shameful......Bought in 2009 put over 3 thousand miles on it in one trip then had to have ankle and foot surgery (unrelated to bike). 2 years of healing, new job etc. I am off for my first ss1000 attempt next Friday. Leaving from Plano Texas to Phoenix, AZ. I should have added another 3k to the odometer by the time I am back.

Must be nice! My insurance runs out at the end of this month, then it's six months of 'maintenance time'.
