Guess this happened early this morning here in Vancouver. The guy and his friend had just been warned by the police to slow down, and the crash happened minutes later. The guy also didn't have any ID on him. It's too bad the cop didn't write him up. If he'd have been found to not have a M/C endorsement his bike would have been towed and he'd be alive.

It's always sad to hear of a fellow rider being hurt, or worse but was this guy not paying attention? He had just been warned against speeding. Doesn't the 'thrill' of being pulled over, make you super cautious for a while?

I feel sorry for the cop who warned the rider. Surely he/she was trying to do the dude a favor. I'd take a friendly warning over a ticket any day, but hopefully would heed that warning. I guess it will be ticket city from now on, for that cop. No more Mr. Nice guy.

Wow, how unfortunate.

Lot more to this story I would like to know. The guy that went home didn't know his friend crashed? Possibel, but unlikely.

And the dead guy didn't have id on him? And the cop let him go? There could be valid reasons for this as we don't know the whole story, but I am guessing that cop's actions are going to be under some heavy duty scrutiny. Especially if dead guy has alcohol in his system which I am guessing is a very real possibility.

Anybody think that the reason the guy hit a parked car might have anything to do with a wheelie?

I am sorry to hear about another person dying on the road.

I just get a funny feeling about the emphasis on speed in the article. He was speeding before he was stopped, and I guess we can ASSUME the guy was speeding when he crashed, since the officer heard him speed up as he rode away, but we don't really know how fast he was going. He didn't have much time if he crashed within hearing distance of being stopped.

Parked cars are dangerous! Seriously, if a guy on a bike hits a PARKED car, something's very very wrong. It sounds like he was really screwing around and it was evolution in action.
