Is a good adivice to remove spark plug and put some oil inside the chamber before start the engine?

or is a waste of time?

I just started mine after sitting for over 5 months...no problem...just let the engine warm up (idle) for a while to get the oil circulating.

It probably wouldn't hurt and the condition of the bore will depend upon storage conditions. My bike usually sits for four months in heated storage over the winter and I have never bothered with pre-oiling the cylinders before starting. I have no apparent issues. I'm sure you will get a variety of opinions on this.

Cylinder bores are lubricated from below the pistons, not above them. All you will accomplish is lots of smoke.

The point to a small amount of oil in the cylinders for storage is more to do with preventing, rust and piston rings sticking while the bike is stored. It's not put there to lubricate on start-up.

I agree that it is better to treat the cylinders BEFORE storage. Fogging oils are frequently used; especially for marine engine applications.

The latter...not uncommon for bikes to sit at dealers for months at a time with no ill effects. Maybe a dead battery or three!

I was surprised to find my battery too weak to start my FJR this spring .... I replaced it last year before the riding season and stored the bike in my heated garage ..... may get one of those battery tenders for next fall ... have one connected to my R1 and it started right up.

As far as oil in the cylinders ... I have never bothered with this but I have fogged my snowmobile cylinders before for long term storage.

I fogged my bmw r60/2 over 20 years ago, fired her up just a month or so back. No problems, no stuck rings, no rust on liner.. good stuff.

For only sitting 6 months, my vote is for waste of time.

(unless it's outside or in a high humidity environment)

Fuel system prep is what you need to worry about more in my opinion. Gas goes bad in a hurry these days.
