Only pack enough clothes for 3 days. Find clothes that can be used with other clothes. A pair of socks, underwear, and shirt for each day, but bulky jeans for multi-day use with light-weight shorts whenever possible instead. Wear real riding gear that includes full over pants and jacket and don't waste precious Sunday-go-to-meeting jeans by wearing them under the riding gear; stick to a t-shirt and underwear. Pick riding boots you can walk in and aren't colored like clown shoes.
Stop somewhere every 3rd day to do laundry. Packing stuff you can toss when dirty and replace at a local WalMart is more costly but saves even more space.
You can ride indefinitely with 3 changes of necessities and 1 pair of jeans.
Each take a saddle bag and both share the trunk. Lay out your stuff on the living room floor and start tossing things that won't fit.
Dancing shoes, cowboy boots, evening on the town clothes, hair dryers, and steamer trunks of luxury items must be cast aside or you need to switch to a car trip.
