Interesting reactions after the body of the article. I liked the signs very much, and sorry to see they're ending them. Maybe a little more public education is in order for signs like this, something like "OK for Motorcycles to Split Lanes" or "Motorcycles OK in Diamond Lane." So many drivers just hate the thought that they have to wait and we get to move through the traffic jam. Of course, the more bikes doing that, the fewer cars would be lined up in the traffic.
Anyway, it's good for all of us to have these attitudes brought to our attention. Might make us a little more careful, I hope. As one comment (from a rider) said (to the cagers): "When you make a mistake, it kills us! When we make a mistake, it kills us!" My bike sports a bright yellow bumper sticker on the top case I got from the MSF booth at a recent m/c show. It reads "YOUR CAR CAN KILL!" I keep hoping somebody will read that and not kill me.
By the way, I LOVE splitting lanes, but never when traffic is moving at any kind of a decent pace, and never more than 10, maybe 15 mph over whatever speed it's moving overall.
