Looking for a backpack blower recommendation.

I thought I should get my lazy ass out of the house and round up the leaves today but just couldn't get myself to pick up the rake so I went riding instead. Anybody got a recommendation for a backpack leaf blower? I want the FJR of blowers. I was looking at an ECHO PB-755 but would definitely appreciate some advise. Any landscapers out there?

The wheeled sort of blower has a lot more power and moves leaves much better..... I have a smaller hand held Homelite blower for the shrubbery and small areas and a 5 HP wheeled "BillyGoat" blower for the major leaf moving. Compared to the McCulloch backpack blower my neighbor has I wouldn't switch from the wheeled blower for moving leaves.

I don't know anything about backpack blowers other than they're way more expensive than a standard unit. I have a Craftsman that works great though I never have gotten the hang of blowing leaves to any usefull effect. I just chase tail. I use the vacuum feature all the time. It mulches an unbelieveable amount of leaves into the bag and doesn't pick up even the smallest pebbles.

I ran my own lawn care service for a while when I still lived on the east coast. I had an old Weedeater brand hand held machine that I really played out. I went to Lowes and replaced it with a brand new McCulloch back pack blower. I got home with it, assembled it per the instruction manual and the darn thing wouldn't accelerate above idle.I went back to Lowes and exchanged it for another. Same thing, wouldn't go above idle. I thought I might be doing something wrong so I called McCulloch Customer Service. They told me they had an issue at the factory with the carb settings and I should just go exchange it for another. I told them I already did that once and I wasn't about to do it again. I took that POS back to Lowes and bought the Husquvarna backpack blower. That was nearly 4 years ago. That blower has fallen off the tool box on the truck, been used hard on several lawns a week, stored without doing anything special to it and it still starts on the first pull. Haven't had to so much as change the sparkplug.

Hows that for a recommendation?

It really depends on your method of leaf removal. If you just blow them into the "nearby" woods then the wheeled ones are very powerfull. If you have nooks and cranies a packpack is the best. But the backpacks won't move them very well when they get a foot or so deep.

I use a back pack to get them all out of the hard to reach places then use a tow behind trailer sucker upper mounted to the garden tractor mower deck. Then they can be hauled to the woods, because all of my leaves need to go in one spot and I could never just blow them there.

i run my own lawn business and all my equipment is stihl. go to your local stihl dealer to go toy shopping. Buy a commercial grade blower and it will last for years. With outdoor power equipment you get what you pay for. Make sure it is a commercial blower, use stihl oil only in it, (better lube), and don't waste any riding time. As soon as it warms up a little i have to go "groom" some yards today myself. People want it done to make it look good for the upcoming Turkey Day. Good day to go riding though, high in the low 70's here in Ga. make money or FJR, keep customers or FJR, mow leaves or head up to mountain s on FJR. Before i got my feej, these decisions were alot easier to make!!!!!!!

I have a husqavarna backpack blower model bt155 and it works good but after having a cracked/leaking fuel tank problem that was already recalled once. husky will not replace fuel tank under warranty. seams like a product that douses customers in fuel with a internal combustion engine strapped to your back would be a safety issue. stihl or echo for me!

Last year, I went with the Stihl BR 380 D. It is a great blower for residential work. I blew leafs, yesterday, with it and I am still amazed with its ability.

Can't go wrong with this one.

Had I not tripped over the deal of a lifetime on a Husqvarna at the local hardware store a fews years ago, I'd have invested in a Stihl or an Echo. I gotta say, though, the Husqvarna has not disappointed at all; starts easy, runs smooth and strong, and is pretty light, too.
