10+ years ago, I had a program that I could set to look at the title of a requester window and click one of the buttons in the requester. Example; "are you sure you want to quit?" Then it would instantly click the button I programmed it to, "yes".

My wife's office software has two (2) pesky sequesters that pop up when quitting, "do you really want to quit?", AND "don't forget to back up your data". The hassle isn't that big of a deal under normal circumstances, but the other day we had a power failure. (seared squirrel or something). Well, a few of the battery backups that were supposed to last for 15 mins lasted alot less than that. One of the computers was trying to shutdown when someone was away from that computer, and with it hung up on that requester, it didn't get a chance to properly save/release the database when the battery finally gave up.

the tragedy is over, but now I'm looking for a way to avoid it in the future.

I already asked the software manufacture if there was a switch in an .INI file, and they said no.

So here I am, looking for the old program that runs invisibly in the background just waiting to see a window pop-up with it's trigger phrases that makes it click OK or what not.

Thanks

Haven't used it for years but it might do what you want... There are some free/open source alternatives out there too although I can't vouch for their effectiveness.

Hmmm...so what happens when you get, "Are you sure you want to install this Trojan"? Just from a data security standpoint I don't think I'd want anything that just clicks on every OK button

Thanks Renegade, that might be what I used so long ago.

And, the clicking is really specific. You program it to only click in the window with the specific window name. "Exit OfficeMate? Are you sure?" Click "Yes". "OfficeMate Backup Reminder, don't forget to backup your data." click "OK". Used to be it was even caps specific, anything else it ignores.

It seems like a hassle, but it's better than corrupt data after we learn that the battery backup ain't up to snuff.
