Hello,

I'm looking to get a nice Street legal Dual Sport. I'm trying to get in has cheap as I can but still want a quality low mantaince bike.

I really like the DRZ 400's but I am open other brands. Any suggestions or leads on a bike for sale would be appreciated.

Oh yea!! Its needs to be around the Florida area...Not going to Cali to pick up a Dual Sport...LOL

Thanks,

Jeff (561) 707-6591

Kawasaki KLR650 is a fun bike to ride (never owned one). Try cycletrader.com

Thanks Rany for the suggestion.....A friend of mine owned that one a while back and it was too heavy for read dirt riding. Good on the road not the dirt.........I'm thinking 400cc.

Check out Ebay. I've seen dual-sported Honda XR400s and XR650s go for very reasonable cash. You might also see CRF450s but for several pennies more.

I have a street legal 2005 WR250F I'll sell you. Meet you half way? Deals Gap?

I liked the idea of the KLR. I couldn't touch the ground. My 250 is very light, and I have it lowered a bit. I've always considered it a starting point. Next thing would probably be a streeted WR450F.

Another place to look would be Thumpertalk.com. Lots of info on all makes and models of thumpers there.

Check out the Suzuki DR 650 ('96 or newer). It's a low maintenance bike-air/oil cooled. Can be lowered if necessary.

one bike for the stable!!! :D

I think the most street worthy and sort of dirt worthy is that KLR. 6+ gallon tank gives that beast serious range. They are taken all over the planet for a reason. The U.S. Marines modify them with a diesel and use them as combat vehicles.

I think the KLR is okay on the highway up to about 65mph, and has taken me anywhere I wanted offroad in Colorado. It is obviously no motocrosser, but neither are motocrossers gonna take you on the highways, especially at night.

ssince you didn't say what kind of street nor what kind of dirt - it is hard to say.

I had a XR650R - that was dual sported. Didnt need the electric start. Lousy bike for tight single track - fabulous bike for the open desert, fire roads and I even whipped it pretty good on a mx track but it is heavy.

Great bike on the road - limited only by your tire selection and DOT approved street tires. Bike actually handles on the road great and was fabulous fun toasting bikes on some twisty roads with a dirt bike.

Great - Indestructable motor

if you want to super-motard it - - makes for a lot of fun, too.

with a big tank - you have some good range and like I said - the motor is bullet proof. Adequate power - good handling -

CRF 450 done up for street would be big fun - about the same power - much lighter - but more maintenance.
