I just spent $32.00 for a 19mm long arm allen wrench to remove the front wheel, I must have been dreaming when I thought there might be a tool in the kit to take a wheel off.
Maybe a bit late for you but hopefully good for somebody seeing it, but I found a spark plug socket at Sears, 5/8", the hex top is (ta-da!) 19mm. And. . . the drive hole is square all the way through the top end of the socket. Yank the rubbr boot out of it, put a 3" extension through the inside of the socket, and you have a 19mm hex key! 4 bucks for the socket.
I probably had one of those in my tool box :angry2: , but no matter, I scrounged for something to work and even tried a 19mm lug nut but in the heat of the moment and eagerness to get my new tires mounted I turned to the yellow pages. Harbor Feight didn't have it but a local tool supply house did and it was closer than Sears.

I got one hell of Alllen wrench now and I bet mine is bigger than your's .... :lol: It's available for rent it out if anyones interested. :derisive:

In 106k have never wrenched on a FJR along side the road. If it ever becomes necessary, my plan is to push the s.o.b. in the ditch and thumb to town. Have a friend that carries a whole saddle bag full of tools. What a joke! Do your wrenching in the garage.

Another option for a hex wrench is to get a bolt which will fit the hex, put some expoxy on the threads and two nuts tightened inline with one another.

You can remove the axles without the hex by leaving the pinch bolts tightened on the hex side. To correctly install, the axle needs to be torqued before the pinch bolts are torqued. You could make an emergency repair on the road without the hex wrench by tightening the pinch bolts on the hex side and then the axle nut/bolt. You'd need to loosen everything up later to torque everything in the right sequence.

There is an axle nut on the rear, but not the front. Front thread is in the fork end, no getting the front axle off without the 19mm hex.

Ok Nikk....

my kit from an '06 has the following:

Pliers

3 open-end wrenches (10/12, 12/14, 14/17)

a screwdriver with reversible blade (phillips and slot)

a couple of allen wrenches (hex keys), one small (4mm?) one bigger (6mm?)

a double-ended socket thingy, one end I guess is for the spark plugs, no idea what the other end is for.

That's it.

I agree with everyone else here that the included kit is hardly worth worrying over if you lose any or all of the pieces. It really is a joke.

But you did ask, and I hope that answers your question.
