Looking for a Little Help

I recently purchased a new GPS unit:

And I am now looking for a way to mount it to the bike. I have been looking at two options and am not sure which would be better, of course I am also open to other suggestions. Here are the two I am looking at:

Stem mounts are rock solid and the way to go IMO. I had a RAM and although it was good...it did vibrate a bit.

Add on a Touratech mount and it's bullet proof...although spendy for all the pieces.

Guess I don't have to worry about the cost, doesn't look like they even have a touratech for my gps.

RAM makes a mount for the Crossover. Click here to take a look. And cyclegadgets.com is a good place to order RAM mounts. Cyclegadgets doesn't list the Crossover, but you can see from the RAM site that the holder for the Roadmate is compatible.

To mount the holder to your bike, I like having a RAM ball on the stem nut. I called Techmount about a year ago and asked if they'd drill and tap one of their stem nuts to accept a RAM ball. They did it and shipped it the same day. It was something in the range of $35.

Been using RAM mount for the last several years and am quite happy with it.

I have a Garmin Quest 2 so the size is a little different and I don't like it in front of my instruments so here is how I mounted it.

I like the Ram mount system with one of Larry's ball-nuts. Should be simmilar to the Tech Mount you're looking at.

I was actually kind of considering one of the smaller dashes that I have seen here and there. Nothing quite that large, just big enough to mount the gps to so it would be up in the line of sight.

Like this for my Nuvi? I kept knocking it when it was over the clutch reservoir and this is more line-of sight, but out of the way. Made it by stretching a piece of ABS over a cheap pine block that I cut to the size of the GPS.

The strange shape in the next shot was dictated by the location of the Garmin plug on the back of the lower left, and having springiness for the retention finger coming over the top. I'd probably make it bit different next time, but this was a rush project to go on a trip. This photo was made just before putting the cigarrette lighter outlet just forward of the glovebox and below the GPS.

OK, after looking again it may not be smaller but it doesn't look like it sits up quite as high.

It's the same model dash that I have.

They don't look good (to me anyway) in pictures but much better in person. I never thought I'd own one until I saw it on another member's 06.

I've been very happy with my n/l shelf. The five mounting points make it much more stable than the FJR Goodies shelf I had first. That thing was almost worthless. My Zumo is mounted on a RAM mount right below my line of sight. Almost perfect.
