Good Friend Robert "Backroad Bob" Little is looking to buy a cherry (perfect) used 2010 or 2011 FJR. Preferably West of the Mississippi River and not in Canuckistan!

At 925 lbs, the Wing is getting to be "just a little too much for me". I'm looking for something more sportier and lighter.
Here is a brand new 2011 Yamaha FJR 1300 listed at Powersports Ride Now in Tucson for $13,499.

Bob, I had better warn you about FJR's! It is like your first date with Halle Berry or Eva Mendes!

You are not going back to white women or dogs *** slow Beemers after you ride the Mighty FJR!

Vice President Hans Blesse

BMW Motorrad USA

P. O. Box 1227

Westwood, NJ 07675-1227

Dear Mr. Blesse,

I wish to congratulate and applaud your being promoted as the Vice President of BMW Motorrad USA.

Hope your new position works professionally to your utmost satisfaction and your personal fulfillment.

However, you now face a extremely serious and endemic problem within the ranks of BMW Motorrad.

BMW Motorrad USA absolutely has no ability to deliver replacement parts necessary to keep new BMW Models roadworthy. My 2012 BMW K1600GT was disabled due to a deer strike on 10/13/11.

My moto has sat at BMW of Salt Lake City, Utah for five months now simply due to BMW Motorrad Germany being unable and unwilling to supply a replacement radiator expansion coolant tank: $40.00.

It's incomprehensible, and irresponsible of BMW Motorrad, they can sell a Customer a machine for $28,500: But they cannot even provide a simple plastic jug for over a year to keep the bike operational.

https://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=57993 https://www.k1600forum.com/forum/bmw-k1600-general-discussions/2988-requesting-your-help-locating-bmw-contact-assistance-my-12-k1600gt-parts.html https://www.azbeemers.org/forum/index.php?topic=3585.0 On January 24 I called out for help to the following BMW Forum Organizations that I belong to: BMW Motorcycle Owners of America, BMW K1600 Forum and BMW MOA Chartered Club #89 AZ Beemers. There are 4 pages each of comments regarding my bike's downtime situation at each of these sites. Please, do read them.

Mr. Blesse, here is what you'll discover when you read these dozen pages: I'm not alone in this BMW Motorrad Lack of Parts Availability Problem, this BMW fiasco is so widespread and affecting so many.

I have been a BMW Owner since 1969 when I bought my R60/2 in Augsburg, Germany. My first BMW shop was in the Altstadt of Munich. Since then I have tirelessly promoted the sales of BMW's.

In 43 years of riding BMW, over 500K miles on BMW, I've talked so many people into buying BMW.

This has now come to a final end, I cannot promote BMW due to it's lack of supply of necessary parts.

I still do not have my 2012 BMW K1600GT back to me, how can I support BMW after this situation?

I sadly do not believe that BMW could spell Customer Support if you gave them the U's, O's or the E.

I'm very sad over this tragic and senseless predicament, loyal BMW Customers shouldn't have to wait a full year to get a replacement coolant tank and certainly not 16 months to get a new left BMW muffler.

Holy ****, man....I was just raggin' yer azz....didn't know it had turned into this much of a debacle. Oh yeah....it's 4 months since your deer-strike...not a year.

(old folks can't tell time  )

Pay attention stupid: The bike has been down for four months. It is still down because that $40 plastic POS milk jug thingy is another 8 months out. NOW do you understand, or do you want me to write it in crayon??

You see Don...I got your back man. BTW, Dean was pissed when he found out your parts were in the middle of "never gonna ******* get here" land.

No Dude, it would have actually have taken an entire year to get a radiator coolant expansion tank from Germany! That's how ****** up the parts availability situation currently is at BMW Motorrad AG! Luckily for me, there is a really sharp guy at BMW Motorrad USA in New Jersey! Team Leader BMW NA Anthony Cavanaugh went to the BMW Mechanic's Training Institute at Headquarters and took a coolant tank off of the K1600GTL that they have for the Factory Mechanics to train on. Any way to skin a Manatee, I don't care if I now have a used tank!

A new radiator expansion jug would not have shipped out of Berlin until October 12, 2012 according to BMW's Computer System. The left muffler I also needed would not have shipped out of Der Vaterland until January of 2013! Dude, that is sixteen months; not just a fecking year, I was so pissed off! Luckily, Anthony was once again on the ball! Mr. Cavanaugh suggested that we put Remus mufflers on my bike, so Gisele will have titanium silencers with carbon fiber end caps on her.

I just got a phone call from BMW NA five minutes ago, Gisele will arrive here on Friday afternoon, March 2!

Thanks AJ, RadioHowie is not only dumber that a box of rocks, he is actually dumber than the box itself. But, I think I straightened him out in Reply #8!

Tell Dean many thanks for his concern and I'll buy him a tamale and a cerveza when I see him! I sure do wish Dean could inspect BMW SLC's repair work!

*******! I am the one who suggested that. Your are getting older and more senile by the hour!

I do stand fully corrected, SkooterG had first suggested Remus cans! I then ran it past AAA Insurance and BMW NA for their approval! SkooterG is MY HERO! RadioHowie is MY HERO Number 2!

Wow Beemerdons that is quite a story. Sorry to hear about your plight. I am a former BMW owner. I used to own an Airhead. The local BMW shop could not be trusted to service the bike without issues, like returning the bike in a safe to ride condition (no kidding). I got rid of the Airhead because with 100k it's engine was getting long in the tooth. It was a 1987 R100RT with no collector value. I didn't see any sense in plowing 3k or so into the engine so I sold it. Plus I could not trust the BMW shop to fix it.

In 2005 or so after reading about all the rear end drives and spline failures it pushed me farther away from BMW, so I bought a Vstrom DL1000.

Lately BMW, give them credit for trying to make a better bike, has turned their product line so fast it is impossible for customers to know the reliability of the bike they just bought. Splines are still failing, rear end drives still die and now parts are unavailable for the latest and greatest "vunderbike".

Ferk BMW.

Great letter..................but you forgot to ask him if BMW would extend your warranty for all the downtime.

No, I did not forget! BMW NA is working on getting this for me, but at this point in time I do not yet have it in hand. I will see Mr. Blesse in Berlin 8/2, we're doing lunch!

I hope BMW does what needs to be done now that you have clarified the problem. The K1600GT is a great motorcycle that has raised the bar for everyone else but only if they are on the road or in the owner's garage, not gathering dust in the back of some dealer's service department.
